My latest mod.....
I went over to Cargraphic USA yesterday and picked up a Boxster S Cargraphic exhaust. I went back to my shop and did the swap. The car now has a much more throaty and deeper sound than before. I got rid of my vacuum cleaner sound and let the beast roar. :D

How much did it set you back? Labor cost? By your shop do you mean "your" shop or a local shop?
|
No, I mean my shop. I did the install myself. The exhaust can be bought right from Cargraphic USA for $1,290.
www.cargraphicusa.com Next I'm going to do the intake, ECU, headers and cats. I'll be running 300 HP and eating up 996's. :D |
With your current stock motor, and your future upgrades, you will do 300HP ????

Hey, stryke, ever consider getting rid of your secoundary cats completely and trying the fabspeed bypass pipes? Saves like 30lbs and 9hp over stock reportedly. Getting rid of one set of cats should definately make it louder! I think I may get the pipes and a GIAC chip and hope for the best:) |
Is there any droning with the Cargraphics exhaust? I also heard that Borla was working on an exhaust (again) for the Boxster. I guess their previous offering didn't really sell but since there are more enthusiasts picking up used Boxsters they are getting back into the game?

The Cargraphics performance package for my car is about $6,000 for the parts but Porsche babe's old 986 S with the package dynod at 293HP and she spanked 3.4L 996's all day. Their cats only use two instead of the stock four which are very restrictive. They also reprogram your ECU, do the headers and I already have their exhaust on the car. Add the intake to that and the car will be alot more fun to drive. :) I already got rid of some weight with the exhaust and light weight hollow spoke sport techno wheels. |
I've heard those exhausts are so loud in the cabin that you feel nauseated... is this true?
Although.... I don't know what could be so nauseating about a Boxer engine ;) |
Not at all. I have no resonance and a nice throaty sound when accelerating. Sounds more like a sports car should. The stock exhaust sounds like a vacuum cleaner. :)
