Bye Bye Airbag Warning Decals

Well, as promised I knocked out the airbag warning decals today . It was really easy. I used 91% Isopropyl Alcohol and a paper towel to get the job done. I saturated the towel and placed it on the decal, and then I pealed it off about 10min later. I removed any remaining glue and then wiped the visor down with some leather wipes. It looks good, if I don't say so myself. Highly recommended!

TADA!!!

Looks like you have very faint traces of the sticker left around the edges, mine did the same. $12/each sent to Sunset Imports for part # 986-731-901-00-01C and I had the Euro-Spec Vanity Mirrors w/ Lids(same as U.S. Spec mirrors sans stickers).

Blinkwatt, those sound good, but when I searched their catalog by the part number, it didn't come up. I cut & pasted it, so I don't think I got it rong... Any suggestions?

Call Sunset Imports. It's not going to be listed in the U.S. PET because it's not a U.S. Spec part,it's the ones that come on the car in Germany.

Sunset also sell them on Ebay as well. If it matters these do not have the light. They have them but they are close to $40 each with the lights and no stickers.

Question

The airbag warning decals on my 06 Boxster are NOT a pasted on labels but seem to be a silk screen permanently printed lables. Any ideas, short of some majic black dye to eradicate the warnings>>

They seem like they're silk screened on, but they are actually a very thin label.

Could it just be the remaining glue that you did not get off? If you used alcohol it should not have messed up anything.

There is a label on each side of the visor on the '06. The one on the mirror side comes off as discussed here. The one on the other side does not seem to come off. I at least am not able to remove it. It looks like a decal to me.

I was reading this thread yesterday and went to the garage to see if mine were still on, drivers side had been removed but, the passenger side was still there.

took some 'goof off' soaked a paper towel, let it sit for a minute and it just wiped off. all of 5 minutes it took to get it all off and it looks 10 times better.

I won't disagree with those who say their airbag warning lables are thin and can actually be removed. Mine is silkscreen and not removable in the peel off sense. I did some additional research on the Porsche Club of America web site and confirmed the silkscreen conclusion.
