Porsche 0 to 60 times with triptronic?
When tests put the times for Boxsters with Triptronic, do they make the test in M or automatic?
Does anyone knows |
most likley M, but i don't think it would make a difference because while using m- Mode in my cayenne, i don't feel it shifts faster at all or does it???????
|
In M mode is faster, it will be in 2nd gear from 0 to 60 , and in Automatic , it will be in third.
It upshifts earlier. |
yeah, but when its in Drive not M-mode, and you push the gas, it will down shift to 1st gear for you right?
|
Mine has never gone from 2nd to 1st unless I am on a steep hill and floor it. I think the acceleration (0-60) is much much better in M mode.

All you have to do either in D or M is shift down to 1st gear before you launch. Times and acceleration will be much slower if you start in 2nd. :)
|
if you take your tip and turn the ignition on, it will always start in D1.
If you drive it around and then stop at a light/sign, etc, then when you are idle it will automatically go to 2. I assume you could (at a stoplight) force it from D2 to D1 and wait about 8 seconds. Then the car should go from "M" back to "D", but remain in first gear. As long as you start in 1st gear, I assume acceleration will be identical. In fact, if you put it into M and floor it, the car automatically upshifts and will not stay in a gear if you redline the engine. Bottom line - being is "M" is still very similar to being in D. |
I think in D upshifts a little bit earlier than M

I have heard the same about new triptronics.
I wish I could update my triptronic with this . I asked GIAC and they are looking into it. |

Are you pushing the gas down far enough and fast enough to engage the kickdown botton on the floor?
If you are in 2nd at a light and you smash the gas to the floor the kickdown button will engage and drop to first and you are gone, also if you engage the kickdown in almost any gear at a normal speed it will downshift 2 gears for passing speed. |
I wouldnt want the car to not shift and bounce off the revlimit and cut the gas off. I like where it makes perfect shifts at redline and shifts to the next gear. Its one less thing I have to worry about and it shifts perfectly at redline every time. What more could you ask for? Why on earth would you want it to bounce off the red limiter so the computer can log it and Porsche can deny your warranty claim for abuse (which has been known to happen) and have the gas shutoff on you.

sometimes you redline all the way to the next corner, and lift to brake with compression and brakes as well before the turn, just when you lift, it up****************s, you end up entering the turn, in a taller gear, faster than you want it and without compression braking.
not good!!! This has happened to me too many times and I hate it. |
