Barn Find
Forgive me if you've seen this before. I haven't. The story is that a guy bought an abandoned property in Portugal with a block barn. The contents of the barn were unknown... http://www.intuh.net/barnfinds/afa70.htm

Damn, Mother load of all barnyard come up'n's

No Ferarris? Ah well, take what you can get.

Wow, I thought I was lucky when I found a $20 bill in my coat pocket the other day. What a pleasant surprise for that owner!
|
WOW, Dreams really can come true! :D
|
whats the story behind the barn?
what happened to the owner of the barn? died? When somebody dies somebody else becomes owner of the property. anybody else know the story on this barn? I'm very interested :) |
Some judicious, but not exhaustive, internet snooping reveals that the original owner of the "barn" was apparently a Portugese doctor who died without heirs.
Presumably he was a closet car collector, and not a terribly selective one at that. It's hard to believe that the property could be sold without anyone knowing what was inside the rather solid, and large, brick building. It's not like it was hidden away in an olive grove or something. The pics show it to be an imposing structure totally exposed on the top of a hill, for pete's sake. There's a lot more to this story. |
Needed: Good Detailer w/ plenty of time

A bit of elbow grease, good detailing products, and a lot of time and this guy will be off and running...btw, don't put the key in the ignition of the Prosche....you may not be able to remove it!! Think what that'll cost at the dealer to get it fixed!! :D RJS '07 White Boxster lots of goodies driver has permagrin |
Wow, what an eclectic collection of cars. From a couple of '32 Fords, several Jags, all the Lotus cars (what is the plural of Lotus?), a couple of 4dr Olds, to a 280ZX. The bodies on the 2 Porsches look pretty solid. What a find!
What kind of car is in pics 10 & 11? It has to be pretty valuable. Also pic 27? |
great info Ronzi! Wish I had bought that property!
Somebodys gonna make a killing restoring those cars. Before it went to auction/sale somebody could have snuck there over night and found a way inside or drilled a small hole and peeked in, then they woulda known what it was worth ;) |

That would be quite the find. My roommate in prep school, his father inherited a property in Germany from some 3rd great uncle or something along those lines, and they wound up with a 32 Bentley Coupe with 8000 miles on it, in a bard tucked away in an orchard. Car was restored and is now still in the family, I dont even want to know what its worth.

The Chrysler is probably worth $50,000 restored. It is a CD. Other series Chryslers of the same vintage, like the CG Dual Cowl Phaeton can bring north of $200,000. The Lancia is probably worth $70,000 restored. |
