How many people still have your original shocks?
Reason I'm asking is because I was thinking of lowering my car with springs only, but realized maybe I should do the entire shocks and springs since my car has 55K on it. The picture of my car has been lowered using photoshop, so that's how it could look. So how many people out there still have their original shocks and how many miles are on your car. I heard after 50 or 60K on most cars they should be changed. But mine seem to be fine. No problems at all with the ride quality.

I've been wondering when to change mine myself. I just hit 81k on my 2000 and to me the ride is fine. I'm not sure when you are supposed to change the things but I'm guessing I'm about due.

i suppose if you are doing the work yourself its something to consider, but if you are paying to have it done you should put in new shocks. No point in spending more on labor than parts.
My old mechanic flat out refused to install lowering springs on my old car without new shocks to go with it. He was from Europe. |

The Boxster is the first car I have owned that I didn't tinker with the suspension.
Lower might look cooler but the roads here are rough for the most part. In my experience less travel leads to problems in other areas, things start to come loose and break. And the last thing I want to do is replace parts prematurely on this very expensive to fix car. When it does come time to change the shocks I'm probably going to either stick with OEM or do the full PSS9 Bilstein coil overs. So I'm saving my pennies! The inability to adjust ride height makes only doing lowering springs a no go for me. Whatever drop you get with lowering springs that's where it stays and if you hate it you have to then pay for more labor to undo the mod. With coil overs its just a matter of jacking up the car and adjusting a few clicks higher or lower. |
I am going with the Ksports...Imagine Auto recomended them. They cost $1000.
The coil overs and other mods will be done around the 14th of July and I will have the car back then and I'll let every one know what I think of them. |

Gary, im in the works for a setup with eibachs with stock struts... could you tell me the pros and cons of having this setup??? :)

I've done some research and have decided to save my money and get the Blistein PSS 9 Adjustable Suspension. So far the best price I have found is at ************************************************************ for $1,849.00. Anyone know who else is out there that can beat this price? :cheers:

Elbachs and stock is what I have ran for awhile. I'll have a used set of Elibachs in a few weeks.
The ride is a little firmer, than stock and I have never had a problem with this setup at all. I have gone on many road trips at 8 - 10 hours one way. ANd I was very comfortable. The back roads are alot more fun, I feel less body roll. I have not DE'd the car so I can't give any feed back on that. I say go with it. Gary |
