engine overheating!

[FONT=Times New Roman]Need some advise!

My boxster overheated the other day. I went to put some water in the overflow tank and noticed it pouring onto the ground.

Checked under the car and the water was coming out of this vacuum controled value on rear drivers side area? Its bolted up to this shift linkage bracket on my tiptronic trans. :confused: The part is broken as it came out in a couple pieces. Any idea what it is called?? There is no part number listed on it. It's hooked up to two hard coolant lines with a couple pieces of rubber hose. Inside the part, there is a cutoff plate which is vacuum actuated which I think cuts off the coolant flow.

I checked all the websites, I couldnt what this part is. Could this part failing cause my engine to overheat?

Thx :cheers:

Are you sure its not just your coolant tank in the rear trunk?

Is the carpet wet in your trunk?

Yea, carpet is dry. The tank is on the passenger side right? That was my first thought when reading past posts. My leak is on the drivers side though.

I can see the part leaking. Its two plastic parts that at one point in time were glued together. Half of it is black plastic and the other half is a yellowish plastic. The part is on the drivers side behind the header and in front the muffler.
