Colgan crested mirror bra
Front bumper and mirrors took a little bit of pitting last winter. Looking to avoid that this coming winter. I've found the Colgan nose / mirror bras everywhere but no pics of the crested mirror bra.
Anybody have a pic of the mirror bra with the crest? Basically just want to make sure the crest isn't obnoxious. |
Dont waste your time on those type of bra's, they collect sut and dirty particals and act like fine grade sandpaper, get a clear bra... its the only way to go.

I disagree. The clear bra's sound great, but the plastic can get pulled up when the car is getting washed. Also, because they are held with adhesive, when a rock hits the car it still chips the paint but the bra holds the chipped paint in place until you remove the bra and find your hood needs a new paint job. :)
And the crested hood bra has a small vinyl window where the car crest shows through, or at least on the old ones. |
I have a Clear Bra on my 2004 Accord which has held up very well. But for my Boxster I decided I wanted something even less conspicuous and got the Armorcoat, which is a spray-on. The installer removed the hood, valence, etc to spray them so there are no seams on the edges of the piece. The seams where the application ends across the hood and fenders are very inconspicuous. I'm very pleased with how it looks. We're taking our first road-trip starting this afternoon for the next week and I'll get a better idea of how it performs - but I've heard it's as tough as the Clear Bra.

Hey guys, thanks for the input on alternatives, but there are already some threads debating that topic. I'm just looking for a picture of what the crested mirror bra looks like... embossed?... stitched?... painted/dyed?... big?... small?
Thanks. |

I have the set. I only use them for drives and events (like Auto-X) then take them off. The reason I do this is that I have an old 300ZX that I have had for over 22 years. I left the bra on the car full time for many years and would only take it off if it got wet or when I wash/waxed the car. The original paint is perfect EXCEPT on the hood and front bumper where the bra made the paint hazy.
With that being said, they are super easy to take off/up on, look good (especially the mirror covers - IMO), and protect the paint. The crest is so subtle that you will miss it if you are not looking for it. I give it two thumbs up. |
Thanks, that's the only time I would use the bra (long drives and the occasional DE).
Do you have the one with Fender guards I assume? Quote:

Yes, that looks like the one I have.
Fits great, easy to install/remove, and when on you can still access the front trunk. |
