CDR-220 - Dumb Question

I'm embarrassed to ask this one, but I didn't get manuals with the car and apparently I'm not smart enough to figure it out on my own (sigh).

Between the radio and the DSP unit on the dash there's a unit with 4 CD trays - the ones where the indicator turns red if there's a CD in them. Are those simply for storing CDs or are they trays for a CD-changer system?

Sadly, storage only. I would just throw it away and buy a cubby tray or relocate the AC controls into that tray and get a cup holder for the highest tray....which is what i did.

Thanks, CJ_Boxster. Actually, that makes me feel better for not being able to figure out how to access them.

I agree the CD shelf is completely pointless. I replaced mine with another shelf, I would put the cup holders in but I heard there horrible at holding drinks.

I thought it was a CD changer to, when I bought the car.

Yeah, I've heard the same thing about the cupholders. Guess I'll use my thighs to hold my coffee and hope I don't hit potholes.

Thanks, guys.

I'll sell you my cupholders if you really want some. They're the stock units that mount in the top location and pop out.

I didn't like them and did Toolpants' "cupholderectomy", pulling the cupholders, moving the a/c controls up to the top where they belong, and putting a cubby in the bottom.

I find the storage trays for the CD's to be very useful. It is much easier and safer to pop CD's in and out of the trays than to fumble with popping them out of the cases they come in. I can change a CD easily with one hand usually without really even having to look down. With the cases, it takes two hands and I don't have to worry about dropping it. Now a real CD changer would be nice and than I could see getting rid of the trays.

Exactly, the CD holders are absolutely useless if you have a 6 disc changer in the front trunk like alot of us do....
