Anyone going to see the Zeintop at the San Diego Porsche Parade?

Zeintec is advertising that the first Zeintop is in LA now and will be at the Porsche Parade in San Diego 29 June - 4 July.
www.zeintec-usa.com

Anyone planning on going to check it out?
I'd love to hear some reviews and opinions from folks who have actually seen it. I'm on the list to order one if they ever go into full production.

Thanks,
Pat

I would go if I lived out there. That black Boxster on the web site looks amazing! If I did not use my convertable top all the time and wanted a Cayman look, I would definately buy one.

I had gotten an email from them saying that they expected arrivals in May and the delays should be over, full production had begun. Was there another delay?

I love the look of this top but 5K for a fiberglass top that takes an hour to go back to topless, I don't know.

Still would be interested as I can't find a hardtop, but it's just too pricey!

I plan to drive my box all winter so I'll need a hardtop for those months.

SC986: I received the same e-mail as you saying they would start production in May, however they just now took delivery of the first one so I'm not sure what has taken so long. My guess is that they had more issues and have been keeping it quite.

Have you considered the one made by Stuttgart in England?
http://www.stuttgart.co.uk/986hardtop/boxht2.html
It doesn't require the removal of the rear trunk but looks almost the same. It stops just before the trunk. Should NOT take an hour to take on and off.

The one on the left is the Stuttgart Top, the right side shows the Zeintop.
The price they quoted me was $3850.00 plus shipping to U.S.

SC986 06-25-2007 02:42 PM

What did the $3850 include? This is the email I received from Stuttgart regarding the cost:

We can ship the hardtop kit to the USA. Please see below for costs. These
prices are in Pounds Sterling and to convert to US Dollars you need to
multiply approximately by 2.

In the UK we normally perform the installation and painting for our
customers and this is show separately. You can buy the hardtop in kit form
and have it installed and painted in the US.

We only offer the version with side glass as this gives the car a better
appearance. The inside surface looks like stitched leather but is in fact a
special surface incorporated in the manufacturing. We offer our customer the
glass fibre version as the weight difference for kevlar is not significant.
A kevlar version will cost around 30% more.

Boxster hardtop kit including
rear glass, side glasses, all
rubber seals, catches, screen
wiring and fixings. 986 model £2498.00

Painting, installing rear and
side glass, fitting rubbers,
wiring and other hardware.
Setting side clamp positions. £ 480.00

Shipping to USA £390.00

That price that was quoted to me was from a few years ago for the bare kit not painted or installed with the parts. You price is more accurate today because the curency exchange rate varies so much from month to month. Not to mention shipping.

I think the tops from Stuttgart in England are **************** compared to the Zeintec. A good setup would have the Stuttgart in England turbo/c4 rear bumper and the Zeintec Top....That would look really hot.

removing the clamshell or rear trunk makes it a deal breaker for most people. If this product is to have any success it needs to appeal to many not just a few people with money to spend and a willingness to try something new.

I love that top. But, $5K is way too steep for a fiberglass top. I'll stick with the OEM top.

Yeah, I bet they could sell allot more if the lowered the price down a little bit. I think right now it's just a "suply and demand" thing. At least until some other company copies their design and makes their own version of it at a lower cost. Only time will tell.
