Question Tiptronic lights on center console

Hello all,

I'm a new '07 boxster owner who has just taken the "new baby" for its first night time drive!!! With only 183 miles on it naturally I was looking at everything. I noticed that the shift selector indicators (P, N, D, M) look like they should light up but don't. Should they?? I was told by the dealerships' service department that they don't illuminate. My wife likes to look down to see what gear she has put it into and can't see the selection made on the console, of course you can see the selection on the dash readout. Is it true that the console doesn't light up???

Thanks for your input.

BTW Carrera White, Sand Beige interior, Black top, Tip, and more goodies!!
