Any Good Rims Shop/website for 20"s
 

Dear All,

I finally got my car back last week [Black 2006 Boxster S 3.2] from the service centre after there was Intermediate Shaft Failure and I had to get a new engine.

Just one Question: anyone know any good wheel/rim shop in US where they can export a new set of wheels to me? I am looking for 20" Chromes for Street use so any advice highly appreciated. I am also looking at Falken 235/30/20 and 285/25/30 tires.

The current set of (ugly) Gemballa wheels measure 235/35/19 and 295/30/19 and fit perfectly and I will save for use on the Track.

I would look for techart, kahn or NAD in the 20" wheels, and i think either are easily found on the internet, then you have to see if the people that carry them will export. Haven't tried that, so i don't know who does, but there are not a whole lot of options out there for 20's yet. :cool:

Try wheelenhancement.com they pretty much have all the major brands of wheels for Porsche.

20 inch? That's too big man. :eek:
Finding a good selection of top notch tires in 20 inch is going to limit your choices big time.
One member here has the 997 Turbo wheels on his Boxster and while its a nice style the wheels are so big that it makes the car look like these cartoons

I have to agree. You should stay with the 19 inch rims you have. 20" chrome wheels on your boxster will make you car less responsive in the "pick-up" area giving you a feeling of a loss in torque. All that weight of 20" chrome on the rear flywheel will definately be noticeable. And I don't know many people using 19" at the track either. Maybe 18" but generaly speaking for track reasons you would want the O.E.M. wheel size or even smaller, hence giving you a lighter wheel and even more pick up. Hope this helps. :cheers:

thats exactly the look i like heheh. i used to have 19" on my 986 they were great. but the 987 wheel arches are a bit bigger so i want to fill them on my weekend drive to the beach or clubbing (dont worry i dont DUI). also....no need to worry about pickup and torque coz this COUNTRY is the size of manhattan so the average speed is probably only 30mph =)

You could always mount some 25" on there and eliminate that whole nasty tire thing altogether. :cool:

Thanks Fornowh & everyone for the various links, spoke to some of the vendors and seems like the closest I got to was a set of Victor Equipment 20" chromes costing $3500 including falken tyres but not shipping. Techarts and some others were way too expensive for a show wheel. I dont know why so many people like to make fun of a particular finish for the car but anyway, I guess thats the way with forums.

Anyway I have decided to delay the purchase for a while. WHen I bought this car it came along with these nice 19" 2pieces on 235/35 and 295/30 which flush out the guards nicely. And I want to test out the current setup's performance on the Track in July. If it works out I will keep the 19"s on track tyres and then purchase the new set of wheels.

19" are probably the biggest wheel that look good on a Boxster.

The larger the wheel, the worse your performance will be, and the more expensive the tires are.

Look at your choices in 18 and 19".
