Goodyear F1 Availability

FYI, If anyone is thinking of getting Goodyear F1s for their Boxster, you might think about ordering well before you need them. It looks like there's a backorder delay for the front tires (205/50/ZR17). Neither Discount Tire nor Tirerack.com has them. Discount tire says there's a shortage and a wait of a few months.

The rear tires (255/40/ZR17) are still available.

I think that's only for 17". I placed an order with them for 18"... no problems.
Except I got harpooned on the mounting $170!

p.s.
great tires. Felt it in the steering wheel almost immediatley. Best the car has felt in the wet too.

Try 225/45/17's. Same diameter, a little more tread.

You may want to try here,

http://www.treadepot.com/groupdetail.html

They are the cheapest I've found, though shipping was a little more than Tirerack. Overall saved about $40 for a rear set

OT: UPS rant.

UPS mistakenly shipped 1 tire to the tire store down the street last friday (My shipping label was for (2) packages, I only got 1 of 2. I call that day, was told by the UPS rep. someone would be on it, yadda yadda... Tracking shows it was signed for and delivered less than 1 mile away. I could have probably straightened out the mix up personally, but felt UPS should make it right instead of making me do the run around. Well SIX whole days later, and at least 5 phone calls the tire finally arrived to join it's twin TODAY. Sheesh! UPS runs a tight ship my arse.

Thanks for the tip on Treadepot. Looks like they have the same problem with the front 17" F1s. I still have some wear left on mine, so I should be okay until they come in.

Excellent all around tire. Good wet/dry traction, good tread life, good road manners, good price. Not the first choice for fire breathing track hounds but for a lot of performance drivers it's the best bang for the buck. Car & driver loved them.
