I'm looking for a cheaper version of this.

Any recommendations?

i built one out of thick threaded rod and steel plates. the video wound up being very shaky; i bought the BK mount anyway and it's rock solid. don't bother building one; just buy a used one if you can find it.

Thanks for responding. Did you have to remove the storage bin or anything else? Can you operate the top with the camera and mount in place?

There are some cheaper options on this site and if you call them they will work with you on a solution. The ones with the straps seem like they would work with the factory rollbar, but you would just have to request larger bands.

withe the BK mount you have to remove the storage bin. you can leave the mount attached to the roll bar when you raise and lower the top, but you have to remove the part that the camera attaches to (one wing nut).

If you get a camera that mounts outside the car it is unlikely you would be able to participate in a DE event like that. I'm pretty sure they don't allow it. I would by a mount for the inside of the car.
