Very impressive and educational. Thanks for the heads up. Although this quality of system would be wasted on me. I am happy as can be with my sound system as is. I only use it about 20% of the time because I love driving top-down and with the top-down and engine roaring I can't hear Sh't when I'm driving. The engine and exhaust notes are my music.

He used an AVIC D3 like me, but his install is MUCH cleaner looking than mine. I posted on the thread to see what he used, I'd like mine to look like that.

I also have a back up cam, but I have no idea where to mount it. Hopefully the dude can help Chills out.

Chills, see if he will make a face-plate for you, and offer to pay him. Could be worth it.

That's a good suggestion. I'll shoot him a PM and see what he says.

Very interesting. I've seen this done and considered it myself, however, to me its a real loss of midrange clarity at the expense of "OK" bass. The real issue to me with this, is that you're only left with 4" drivers in the dash for midrange, and you're now asking what is basically a free air sub to play mid-bass roles as well. Can't have your cake and eat it too.

I still contend that for a similar amount of work, I'd go ( and did) with a dedicated sub (as many know, I have a gorgeous JL 8W0 install, and that the box in my car is also available from the audio shop for your car). This way you have a true subwoofer to fill in the low end, while I still have excellent 6 1/2's in my doors for mid-bass. In my case, the loss of passneger footwell volume is minimal, while the addition of true bass is amazing.

Nice use of an Audison LRX amp, however. I have two of those driving my system and they are probably the best value in high end mobile amplification.

Just my $.02 on the topic.

If I have money next year (I'll have everything but the car paid off this year), I may do some audio system upgrading... You've seen the box/mess in my passenger footwell... I might have to remove that...

I figure I'll start with upgrading the dash and door speakers, then maybe the rear speakers, because I'll be able to do those in steps, and still use my stereo... then I'll find a good amp to run everything, probably get the woofer enclosure your shop is making (have to have them cover it in grey), and possibly a new head unit. (seen a couple that have SD card slots on them... that would be a great way to get music to the car!)

How does your woofer enclosure work with the floormats? Luckily my floormat hides the abortion of a box in the footwell!

Well the factory mats dont fit on the passenger side now, so I'm having an upholstery shop trim them down and rebinding the edge to fit. If the audio shop gets enough orders for these they've talked about offering a custum cut mat to fit the application.
