Headlight Washers?

I have a question for y'all. What are the purpose of the headlight washers? I have seen other cars with headlight nozzles, and then a wiper to clean it off after it is sprayed. But I don't understand the purpose of having just the nozzle, like our Porsches do. How does that clean the headlights? And also, when I pressed the spray for the headlights, it was so powerful it just overshot the headlights and went on my hood. What's the point of that? Am I not doing something right?

well think winter, and think salty road, and following someone, dirty headlights, cant see anything.
this way you spray it on there and it should become more visible.
i loved it on my C70, heated washer fluid and wiper blade.
