Model Year Reliability

Which model year boxster is considered by most to be the most reliable?

Thanks!

Hi,

There is no model year which is significantly any more reliable than any other. Each has it's own quirks.

The '97s had a bunch of issues, mostly electrical. '98s had problems with a few blocks being porous and sleeved, but these have all been culled out and repaired - I doubt you'd find a single one failing now due to this problem. '99s, '00s, '01s seem to have the least issues, but still have their share - cracked Coolant Reservoirs, bad Gas Caps. '02s onward have issues with the Intermediate Shaft in the engine.

They all suffer from prematurely failing MAFs, RMS problems, bad SeatBelt, Hand Brake switches, poor power window systems, etc. They're truly not the most reliable cars out there, but they can be fun. The key is doing a PPI before considering any of them...

Happy Motoring!... Jim'99
