Chills 04-30-2007 09:19 AM

Are those really Brembo brakes?

unklekraker 04-30-2007 09:23 AM

Im going to say this again....
1st - Bruce almighty
2nd - Evans almighty

and now, DJ almighty! dude, it looks so great after you painted your wheels black. I love it...the painted crest and the brake

now change your sig :D

djomlas 04-30-2007 09:29 AM

yea siggy has to be changed, funny thng i got a pic at the same spot w me in it, so that will be my new siggy, but my friend took it and hes being lazy with sending it to me. lol.

and Chills,
you have brembos too, we all do :)
well just with porsche stickers, but i like the contrast like this

Chills 04-30-2007 09:34 AM

No kidding? I didn't know that. Sweet.

Oh, and the black wheels look pimp. I bet the car looks good even with the top up. The black and black.

2000SoCalBoxsterS 04-30-2007 09:37 AM

I love the Black wheels look

Did you paint those wheels yourself? I'm looking to buy some black wheels if I don't end up selling my Boxster S.

djomlas 04-30-2007 09:40 AM

Chills,
good catch, i somehow forgot to include one w the top up, its up there now.

2000SoCalBoxsterS,
yes they are painted black, see this thread.

Sweeeeeeet!

shaman1204 04-30-2007 10:25 AM

I'll have to admit, I was not the biggest fan of lace look wheels (not just yours but in general), but those look frickin awesome. Dj, I think you were the one that photoshopped my 17" boxster rims black for me so I could see what it would look like on my seal grey. I am definitely doing mine now. What kind of paint did you use? BTW, are those 17" or 18" rims. I am just a little worried that the black will make the wheels/rims appear smaller than the current silver.

HIFI 04-30-2007 10:28 AM

It's like having a completely different car... glad you like it!

jwilson95 04-30-2007 12:07 PM

dj-

really like it. can't wait to see the tires shined once the paint is fully cured. definitely will look better the dull tires and understand your patience to wait for the full cure.

makes your 17's looks like 18's!

I'm now wondering how my 18 turbo twists would look in black on seal gray/black car???

Jeff

986 Girl 04-30-2007 12:16 PM

Looking good! Nice to see the index card trick in action too.

blinkwatt 04-30-2007 12:22 PM

Sweet! Now for black lug bolts to complete the look.

Perfectlap 04-30-2007 01:53 PM

I would paint the lip or edge of the wheel silver to break up the black of the tire and wheel. It will play well with your painted roll bars and make any curbing that might come your way in the future easier to repair, all you'll need is a can of duplicolor body filler and Wurth Silver. All German cast alloy wheels are made from the same paint code or very similar. I might paint the background of the center caps silver as well.

Try doing it with photoshop.

p.s.
dress those tires! I've been using the poorboys trim spray, works great on the windshield trim, bumperrettes and the plastic molding between the top and the windows... doesn't run in the rain...

djomlas 04-30-2007 03:24 PM

thx guys,
im really enjoying the transformed look of the car with black wheels. i was actually thinking about getting a red pinstripe on the enge instead of silve,r but well see, looks good this way.
the 1st pic is w no tire dressing, as well as the last 2 :)

shaman1204,
they are 17s

djomlas 04-30-2007 05:52 PM

something like this perhaps? what do you guys think?
once the paint cures properly

Dohertycm 04-30-2007 07:20 PM

Not sure

The red ring would be even better, call me finiky but I dont car for the color combo with that color car......something is missing but I cant put my finger on it...
Dont get me wrong, I not saying you have an ugly car, In fact I think that green is very unique..

There is just something missing.....A wing, flare, a piece of chrome...something..

Sorry not much input, just wanted to see if anyone else could help figure out what I though was missing...

I will shut up now...

djomlas 04-30-2007 07:31 PM

it needs to be lowered badly, and new front bumper probably, which is what i have planned for it
and im the most anti-chrome person ever...but i do like the exhaust tip so

FIG 04-30-2007 11:34 PM

Looks awsome

Now has the race car look  :D

fab 05-01-2007 03:22 AM

dj
I'm not a big fan the black rims. Reminds me of a spare tire. All that matters dj is your happy with it.

djomlas 05-01-2007 05:19 AM

happy as i can get hehe :)
im a sucker for black wheels and dont like shiny things in general, well i like my paint shiny but thats about it hehe

super66 05-01-2007 05:34 AM

I think it looks kind of race car too....I like the idea o f the chrome lip but I think I would agree first with Blink, those lug nuts need to go black....I didn't really notice it till he mentioned it....red stripe is kinda cool too

unklekraker 05-01-2007 05:46 AM

x1 for the red stripe and new lug nuts :)

x1 to keep the existing siggy :D :D :D

djomlas 05-01-2007 06:38 AM

i have a set of original lugnuts, so ill give them a coat of black and see how it looks. i bet it looks good, but im just not all up for painting something that will get so much abuse from taking them off and putting them on...i dunno

and as for the siggy,i swear banana guy did it in mspaint :)

Perfectlap 05-01-2007 07:07 AM

yeah you don't want to paint lug nuts. I had a set of trick spline drive lug nuts in red and they looked great until I had to remove the wheels..

unklekraker 05-01-2007 07:18 AM

yah, DJ..blame the banana guy but I still preffer that existing siggy..hehehehe!

off topic:
P/L...the method you told me, spit shining, really works...arms/shoulder hurting but it's worth it...went to drive over theweekend and got home, only has a lil' dust :D :D :D

okay, back to DJ...what kind of bumper are you thinking to put on?

drburton 05-01-2007 07:23 AM

I prefer black wheels with a silver combo. Either the lip is silver or some other part of the wheel. Otherwise the wheel justs blends in with the road and tire and you can't even really see it.

Here is one that I think looks pretty cool.

dcporsche99 05-01-2007 07:42 AM

Nice wheels DJ!

i really like the 996 one, simple yet different than the 986

Bavarian Motorist 05-01-2007 08:15 AM

Djomlas, it looks really good :)

I was going to start a new thread but I saw this one ... not to jack the thread.

What color should I paint my wheels on my car? Black 987.

I was considering black, but feared there might not be enough contrast. Then I considered some whacky colors like puke green but thought it would look horrible or I'd get tired of it.

Any suggestions?

How would black with white wheels look?

clb0099 05-01-2007 08:52 AM

i think blk wheels on a black car is awesome.. if you noticed the company wicked always does the blk cars with black wheels. If you look at ebay you can see there cars for sale . Looks awesome

I think the wheels themselves look good in black, but they do get lost on the car and appear like spares or winter steelies. Good job on them though.

mylamb 05-01-2007 02:02 PM

DJ -

Great rims. That car looks sharp. What is your exterior color?

djomlas 05-01-2007 02:35 PM

ocean jade green metallic.

btw, ure the first person that saw that car with black wheels in real life hehehe, good eye

eslai 05-01-2007 02:50 PM

Not a fan of black wheels myself, as someone else mentioned it makes it look like the car's on spares or steelies. Not enough contrast and it makes the wheel wells look empty.

But I'm in the minority here I guess. I see a LOT of people with black wheels so to each their own! Good to see you did the center caps too. :D

Anyone....?

yellowboxster01 05-01-2007 04:02 PM

nice, I'm going to powder coat my Turbo wheels flat black and put the yellow strip around the lip of the rim. Should look sweet with my new turbo front end.
