Any advice on cleaning the e-brake sensor contact?

Hello all,

My e-brake sensor will not engage, which is preventing me from raising my top. When I pull the e-brake (no matter how hard, etc), the dash light will not illuminate.

Has anyone cleaned the contacts for this? I really don't want to have to take it to the shop, as I'm sure this is probably a simple fix...

Thanks

The switch is sealed so It would be hard to clean the contacts. We just replace the switch.

I HAD THIS PROBLEM JUST 3 WEEKS AGO! Like a dumbass, I took it to the dealer and said just fix it whatever it is. So they did, $7.99 part, $200 labor, which I did not know till they called me that it was done.

Lesson learned. :(

Tool Pants,

Is it very difficult to replace the switch (I'm a complete novice)? Was hoping to tackle this today, but I guess I'll have to wait for the parts dept to open on Monday... what part do I ask for? Thanks!

Thanks for the link... is there any way you still have the picture that is in the thread? I don't have renn-tech access...
