RMS LEAK, What is bad

What constitutes a bad RMS leak, bad enough that requires a motor change?

What if you car is out of warranty, will Porsche replace the motor? Or fix it?

I saw a drip or two of oil on my 2000-S with the 3.2... anyone else with the 3.2 see any type of leak..

What is the outcome if you just dont do anything about it.....

My 911 leaks, its the Nature of the Beast... :troll:

Mine leaked for the past 3 years. Just got it fixed last week when I did the clutch. I got a drip here and there. I don't know what is bad.. I just got away with it for that long.

if you can live w the drop here and there untill you replace your clutch then you are good.
some people go years with drops, some just get annoyed anc get it fixed.

An RMS leak is just a leak. It's mostly an annoyance.... however, the thing that can compound it is if the intermediate shaft bearing gets 'out of round'. That would be serious work, and usually warrants replacing the engine. At least, that's what Porsche will do. They don't seem to want to just rebuild or fix engines, they just replace them!

Anyway, if you only have the RMS seal leak, all that's done is the transmission is separated from the engine, the seal is replaced, and it's put back together. The job is about $1000 in labor and such. Lots of people opt to have the clutch replaced, since it's right there when the transmission is off, and the part is not really that expensive comparatively.

Thanks, the feelings I got concerning this was the KISS of DEATH for your motor.....But I am OK with Porsches Nature to leak....Thank you for the reassurance....BECAUSE MY CAR RUNS GREAT!!
