I just looked at what variocam plus is and it is pretty much the same thing as iVTEC so one isn't really better than the other.

True its basically the same as far as the concept but variocam is better because.... i called it first!

This thread sucks, this is like some of those sports message boards.....now off to my Neon..

conradtan 04-25-2007 02:30 PM

Used my RSX as a trade in for my Boxster!

Seriously... I really really did trade my beloved, yes beloved, RSX for my Boxster. It was simply time for a change. Time to drive a more fun car. Time to stop trying to "rice" my car and just simply drive a car that doesn't really need "ricing"! I can say "rice"as I am Asian so all you Asians that are offended, relax. Hehe... :)

Anyways, I miss the mileage I used to get. Seemed like no matter how fast I drove my old RSX, I always got 30+ mpg. I miss the "cheaper" maintenance costs fer sher! But I'm glad I made the change. Simply put, there are very very very few cars as fun to drive as a boxster. Nuff said!

In before close.

CJ_Boxster 04-25-2007 02:35 PM

The RSX forum should use that picture as there forum logo. :D

You never win in a fight against the youth. We have no jobs to go to, few classes, free time, and an angry disposition against the world. So pretty much for the next 6 months we will have rsx members randomly join 986forum and post crap. So thanks CJ, im pretty much leaving this mess to you...

unklekraker 04-25-2007 02:37 PM

conrad..nice sig!

Perfectlap 04-25-2007 02:42 PM

Do they even think about the fact that street racing is STUPID for many reasons and that we don't care if they want to race or not?

If it makes them feel better my friend has a RSX and it's a nice commuter car.

ok I'm the guy who said that. I didn't think much of it when I typed it, figured it was just another idiotic clubrsx thread and I never expected the owner of that porsche to show up and make me look like an idiot, but he did so under some pressure from my other clubrsx members I have come here to say I am sorry and extend an olive branch. He had every right not to race me, I was just talking **************** and being a ricer.

I would say thanks... but no thanks, your last post on the rsx forum proves that you fall into the stereotype of out of control e-thug ricer

"why dont you go over to the boxster forum and make fun of how slow their cars are you baby"

Given that we too have our moments of weakness but damn... your like the change machine of weakness... FYI, we know our boxsters can only get 14sec 1/4 mile runs but we DO NOT by our boxsters for drag racing and nore were they made for drag racing, they are autocross roadsters. nuff said.... oh yeah OWNED! something you can understand. to your more mature forum members.

that quote is taken out of context. that guy (clark kent) has an sti and he sits in the rsx vs all section and tells rsx owners how slow their cars are, I was making fun of him for on one hand being all about speed and then dissing me for street racing, it was a sarcastic comment

I like the RSX... I like Acuras for that matter. I looked at the tL and the RSX before I bought the Scion tC.

Either way, I only really enjoy driving the Porsche... nothing like putting the top down on the drive home from work.

Marc Gelefsky 04-25-2007 03:44 PM

Worst thread ever. :barf:

eslai 04-25-2007 03:45 PM

ahaha that thread over there is hilarious!!

I love the ricer over there that said "Porsche = No Vtak was up now punks". :D I haven't seen crap like that since I used to moderate Club3G back in the day.

Hey, I appreciate that there are cool people over at ClubRSX and I sympathize with them for having to put up with the ricers. The demographics of RSX owners are quite different than Boxster owners.

They're right, we're all old, drive cars that are too expensive and slow. Oh, and we're all GAY. :)

I personally like the RSX a lot. They're not very fast, and I'm no longer interested in wrong-wheel-drive, but for the money I can't think of anything I'd rather own. The interior is top-notch, and they have a lot more class than a comparable new Civic.

As things move downmarket I guess it's inevitable that you're going to have the VTEC POWAH!!!!1 crowd in there.

thanks..seems like most of you guys over here are pretty nice I guess I learned my lesson for the day

eslai 04-25-2007 03:53 PM

One thing guys that y'all may not have realized. That original "top ten douchebag cars" list that was posted on RSX was not an original piece of writing--it's been around on the internet for a long time.

So in response to the comment about all the cars on that list being more expensive than theirs, well, the RSX guys didn't come up with the list so that's not really the point.

Thanks

I'm a former RSX-S owner by the way. I needed AWD so I now have a WRX. I looked at the 911 Turbo but decided I wanted better mpg :D

eslai 04-25-2007 04:04 PM

I used to have a clubrsx account but I don't have one anymore--I guess it got purged somewhere along the way.

It's too bad, as I totally want to ask the guy who's calling the Boxster a "poor man's porsche" how he can say that anyone that can afford a $50,000 car is a "poor man". Boxsters aren't cheap by any stretch.

I think most people that could spend $50,000 on a car and not feel like they made a bad financial decision aren't really poor. :) Hell, with options I can't seen anyone getting into a Boxster S for less than sixty large.

I wish every poor person in the world was able to afford a $50,000 car, wouldn't that be something?

blinkwatt 04-25-2007 04:06 PM

Forget buying the darn thing,it's the cost to maintain it that can scare people away itself. $300 oil changes, $250 for spark plugs and the list goes on.

unklekraker 04-25-2007 04:07 PM

actually, before i bought my other car as a D/D, I was looking at subarus WRX and Mazda to replace my matrix and then being a father of 3 w/ one already has a license and one on it's way of getting one this year, I changed my mind :(

$300 oil change? I understand most of you prob have the money for this, but take the time to DIY and save the $$$. That's ****************ing ridiculous

molten slushbox 04-25-2007 04:10 PM

yeah cant u just get a pan and a wrench and change ur oil?

Yeah, the problem is that for pre-owned boxster, the All-Important certified service stamps are highly desired for resale value. If you do the servicing yourself, especially during the warranty period, you risk affecting the car's resale value.

That, and the oil alone (nine quarts of Mobil-1 synth) generally costs near $100. Combined with the fact that the *specified* oil service interval is now 20,000 miles and you're not looking at a humongous cash outlay in order to do oil changes.

Most of us do,but it's still pricey either way.

D.I.Y. requires;

- 10 Quarts of Mobil 1 0-40 Oil, $65-70

- Oil Filter,O-ring for Filter and Drain Plug washer, $10-15

- 1/2 to 1 full hour depending on how much crap you like cleaning up around the engine bay while your down there.

I can take the Nissan Quest(van) anywhere and get the oil changed in 10 minutes for $20.

Are you saying you only change your oil every 20k? Does Porsche have some special oil filter that last this long? I know the synthetic oil will last 10-15k but the filter...

Ok, yeah 10qts does make the price pretty much double from what I'm used to but you still save a train-load of cash

molten slushbox 04-25-2007 04:17 PM

not sure how true that filter theory is man

Grizzly 04-25-2007 04:21 PM

I service mine myself, if at all possible. Just because I may have the money doesn't mean I should senselessly toss it out the windows.

I agree with eslai on the service stamps and resale, but I'll likely keep mine until it's worthless, so that's not a consideration for me.
