03 or 04 service position
 

I have a 2003 and tried to put he top in the service position for the first time. I got to the point where you are supposed to lift the top until it locks, but I could not get it to lock. I ended up holding it up by hand while I removed the rear compartment and carpet to access the engine lid....what a pain!

Anyway if anyone else with an 03 or 04 had this problem, I'd appreciate telling me what I was doing wrong.

There is a strap. Covered in the owners manual.
