Hood Warning Light

Hi

I have a 2000 986 and the hood warning light stays on. Anyone have any idea how i can switch this off? Or why it might be sticking. The only time it goes off is when my hood is fully open.

Also when the hard top is on the warning light stays on too.

Thanks

Are you sure BOTH your front and rear trunks (boots) are latching correctly? Fully?

You are aware that the front hood, after dropping, needs to be pressed down to fully close, correct?

Of course, then, if in the Queen's English, by 'hood', you mean the convertible top...

Then you're probably not letting the convertible top cycle COMPLETELY up or down. When lowering the top, you need to hold the dash switch in until it stops on it's own. The same when raising the top. Hold it in all the way until it stops on it's own.

I agree with FrayAdjacent, you may be letting go of the convertible switch too early even though the top looks closed, keep pressing it for a few seconds longer until the light goes off and then use the latch to secure the top. I noticed the same thing when I bought my Boxster, just had to press the switch longer.
