Well I am getting close to pulling the trigger on new rubber for the box. I don't want to be cheap with this but right now I only need rear tires. The front's have more than 1/2 tread left on them. Currently there are Bridgestone S03's all around. They don't make the S03's anymore and I was told they were replaced with Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position. I am torn between having different tires (although the same maker) and getting rid of tires that have good life in them. This would give me about $300 to invest in some other area of the car.

Any opinions or experinece with tire replacement strategy here?

Jci-joe, when you say you have 1/2 tread life remaining on the fronts...how many 32's are we talking about...do you have 5 left??

Not ideal mixing tires, but I think you will be OK.

The tires you selected are being put on the 997's now, I think...just different size.

you'll be fine. fyi, i'm running the RE-050A PP right now. i really like them. a lot of bang for the buck.

HI, I'm running on Potenza RE050A tires on the front and FUZIONS ZR1's in the back which are made by Bridgestone and sold to those who don't want to pay for the more popular name brands

I have no problems what so ever so go ahead and use the money saved on some mod you've been holding back on

While its generally not the best idea to mix tires, if you're going to do it, you are somewhat better off staying within the same brand and tire type (i.e. performance Z rated in this case). The 050s are great tires, I would probably try them on the back, and by the time you've burned through the rears, the fronts should be worn too, so you can then decide to replace all 4 with 050s or go elsewhere.
