Post your Highest Stealership Alignment Rate! LOL

ok still laughing....

let me pick myself off the floor...

ok my local dealer just quoted me $428 for an alignment!
uhhh no thanks. Well I was just curious I knew it would be at least $250-$300.

I was quoted $980 for the 30K mile service. I asked what is included and
got this answer by a nice young lady
"uhh its 'the annual' and a whole lot of other stuff on top of that"

I also emailed a service request for Ray Catena a big regional dealer that I go to because they have the Ritz Carlton of Waiting Rooms.

p.s.
Those of you in NJ
EG Tire wheel alignment price: $90
their a local Autocross sponsor and posted this deal
AutoX4u.com Autocross season package
"Mount one set of tires and perform 2 alignments $199.95 plus tax and disposal charges. (Caster and Camber Shims Extra) regular price $259.90 (2 Alignment's must be done within1 year)"
EG Tire (732)-329-6300

oil and filter
air and pollen filter (replaced every 15K)
spark plugs
comperhensive check

brake flush not included another $250.. ouch!
drive belt (if the culprit of squeaky start up) $150

their alignment $150

and new key clicker reprogramming $90.

I have not requested a quote for this yet but I had a funny experience with the Schneider & Nelson shop down in W Long Branch recently...I asked the parts counter for a red clip to enable the alarm when the top is down and they looked at me like I was crazy and went onto say they had not heard of anything like that.

Aristocrat motors
90K mile service-$925
Oil, tranny, dif, polyrib belt, check bearings, drain clean, brakes inspect (120 to flush), filters, spark plugs,

My dealer told me the $1000 30k service was basically a visual check. I asked about the plugs and he said "no, those are at 50k" I'm really confused. I think the guy is full of it.

Beverly Hills Porsche Alignment $300. Pasadena Rusnak $150. Berverly Hills price matches for me everytime.

Since not everypost has been on topic ;)

4 wheel alignment at two indy shops near me.. both quoted $300.

Alignment
Stealership #1 in Chicago suburb $495
Stealership #2 in Chicago suburb $500

Off topic, but my personal favorite - all 4 pads, rotors & sensors from Stealership #1... drum roll please...

$2457.00

And no... I'm not kidding!

djomlas 04-11-2007 08:14 PM

i dont know if you included Loeber in there man, in chicago, but i bet their alignment would be probably 5 grand.
they overcharge up the a$$ on everything

What would you do?

They should have let you know and if they didn't catch that then they didn't do a very good inspection. Sorry. :(

my stealership wants somewhere in the $400 range for an alignment. I had an appt. several weeks ago and when I got there they told me their alignment machine is broken. I said, why wasn't i informed he shrugged his shoulders. Don't you just love that!
The service man said he could do better on the price. So i have an appt. on friday but now I'm not sure if it's going to happen.
1. car is in the body shop - from the looks of it I don't think it will be ready
2. expecting some bad weather coming this way.....

Wow, talk about a ripoff. Yikes.

A guy at one of the local (non-Porsche) dealers does my alignments for about $100. He'll align to my specs, with me in the car. Very nice.

Perfectlap 04-12-2007 08:53 AM

The other thing was that the rep claimed my 30K mile servicing would take all day at least six hours and that I would have to leave the car meaning I would have to camp out there for the day or rent a car to get home. Ridonkulus...

Oil change 1 hour?
air and pollen filter 15 minutes?
Spark Plugs 30 minutes with a lift?

So it takes them 4 hours to do a full inspection? hmmm....

docdyh 04-14-2007 02:14 PM

Is there any reason not to get an alignment at a tire shop. I get my warrany work at the dealer but my local tire shop will do an alignment for $69.

John V 04-15-2007 04:12 AM

It all depends on the equipment and the operator.

Some tire shops won't even set camber - they only will adjust toe!

What dealerships are those? I'll need one eventually.

insite 04-15-2007 05:44 AM

i get my alignment done for $60. this includes camber. they set it to my specs, print me a final setup sheet, and use the newest hunter 'disco' machine. they also let me watch.

boxsterz 04-15-2007 10:33 AM

how often for alignment?

PO got it done every 15k, or each time he changed tires. That seems excessive. Isn't an alignment only needed if you bump something (hard/lateral impact), or race around alot, or see abnormal tire wear.

So, my Q is what's how often should an alignement be done for a DD driven spiritedly.

Perfectlap 04-15-2007 02:26 PM

15K/new tires doesn't seem excessive at all. Rememeber its a finely tuned sports car that sits low to the ground. If the steering feels good at all speeds and a quick inspection of the tires show even wear at all corners then its probably ok. I do it once a year with a brake flush.

Chills -

Dealerships in Chicago: Loeber (Lincolnwood) & Napleton (Westmont) respectively. Loeber will pay for your rental (they have an Enterprise on the lot) if your car has to be serviced, even if you didn't purchase it from them. All in all I guess that's no so bad, but... $150 / hr!!! I have never had service done at Napleton. You could also try Rizza Porsche in Orland Park.

I would probably recommend Midwest Eurosport in Bensenville over the dealerships, though. They have plenty of experience aligning Porsche's for PCA events - their garage is FULL of track prep'd vehicles. I was there on Wednesday & saw a couple of 996 GT3's being serviced. They are a much better value than the dealerships, although for alignments I think they charge about the same price (maybe $400?) I think it's because they have the same laser alignment tool that Porsche dealerships use.
