Oddments Tray Cover
The hinge on my oddments tray cover broke this afternoon. It's difficult to believe that this part was made so poorly.
I found the service bulletin for replacing it on a 996, and it appears that the same procedure applies to the 986. Has anyone had experience replacing the hinge themselves? Anything to look out for? |
I had replaced mine, parts are cheap and install took about 20 minutes, only tool you need is a rivet gun and a little sandpaper if I remember right.

I replaced mine last week and it took 20 minutes. Very easy and Travis is right in terms of the rivet gun and sandpaper but you will need a drill also. The parts were approx $20.

Thanks - your responses are encouraging. I'm planning to order the part from Suncoast today. With luck I'll be able to do my install next weekend.

If anyone else ever has this problem it is indeed an easy fix. Some instructions I found make it apper that you have to remove the center cosole, but that is not necessary. You will need a rivet gun, torx driver, handsaw and drill.
If anyone in Central Virginia ever needs a hand with one, let me know. |
kevin, I ordered repair kit yesterday from Sunset Porsche it cost me $17.00 plus $6.00 shipping and they had it in stock.... Lee
