Are these things difficulty to install?
I am thinking of getting these sideskirts from eBay. The price seems right, they look pretty good. Any advice?

Conradtan, is PerfectLap bending your arm? :)
How are you with a glue gun? (j/k). |
Who is PerfectLap?
And yes...my favorite tools are glue-guns, duct tape and hammers. Hehe...
|
Conradtan, sorry. Too much inside humor.
PerfectLap is a very active Forum member who loves (may have invented) side skirts! I think it is easy. There are a few clips on the underside, and then some sticky tape that holds the leading edges along the door and body line. I am sure a more knowledgable Forum member will chime in here. |
I bought those myself, guy here in Houston is the seller.
Couple of points for you to be aware of: 1. No hardware will come with them at all. 2. Fiberglass 3. Although he states "Perfect Fitment" they do not (undercarriage holes/clips will not line up) 4. I had mine painted Arctic Silver, and after I seen what they looked like on prior to drilling new holes (yeah) and gluing them on I told them not to. 5. I have a pair for sell cheap! :D |
Tape? Are you serious? Glue? I though you guys were kidding. So glue and tape will hold? Ok I'm kind of concerned now. I don't want these things flying off while I'm on the freeway. You got some side skirts for sale?

But if I were you I would really invest in some skirts that are of better quality, those you linked from ebay are just really cheap knock offs and they do not fit or look right. Would I sell them? . . . . . . To a member of this forum? . . . . . No. I would not want to rip off anyone that I may chat with in the future  |
Conradtan, maybe this is a better (higher quality) option for you:
http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=P&Product_Code =98655998302and98655998402&Category_Code=POTEBXEX Check pricing at www.sunsetporsche too. |
I purchased the OEM skirts and was able to installed them myself. They came with the screws and clips. Here is my installation procedure:
1) take off the mud flaps (put the skirt up to the car to see how the holes line up in the front and read wheel wells) 2) prep the body where the tape will attach with alcohol pads 3) remove the front wheel well plug (where the skirt screw will now go) 4) install the screw clip onto the front wheel well (so the skirt screw has something to thread onto) 5) temporarily screw the skirt on by screwing each end (front and rear well screws) 6) get a marker and mark through the side skirt bottom holes where the clips will need to be attached. 7) remove the side skirt 8) attach the bottom clips onto your marked spots(they press onto that lip under the side of the car) 9) install the skirt loosly with the bottom screws (screwed into the bottom clips you just pressed in place)...do not tighten yet! 10) remove the tape backing 11) carefully press the skirt in place press hard on the tape for a solid fit 12) screw the 2 wheel well screws in place tight 13) tighten the bottom screws. 14) look back at a job well done!! |
Boy thanks a lot! You guys rock. So the eBay ones are cheap eh? I'll look elsewhere then. I really don't mind paying a little more, I just want them to fit right, and look like they came with the car, not monkeyed in place.

I seriously suspect even that the photo they use in that auction is of a full OEM Factory GT3 Bodykit, and not their version. If it's made of fiberglass, it will also chip easier when road debris hits it. I'd go OEM if I were you.

I have those skirts, took like 4 monthes to get them due to his vacation and also sending me the wrong stuff. They fit kinda weird, just a little high in the middle, ive got lots of pics up and its not too bad. But for 300 bucks, this poor college student cant complain. If I had to do it all over, id buy oem.

Do we have an illness??
I think we are all sick. I cannot stop thinking about my car and all the things I want to do with it. I am supposed to be working, instead I'm surfing like crazy for crap that I cannot afford (right now anyways) and dreaming of how they will look on my car! Haha!! :D

Yeah, you're normal. It was motorcycles for me but now that I have a Porsche all I can think of is what to buy next.
If I didn't have a wedding to pay for this year my Box would have some serious performance mods. |
