I can think of 3 people on renntech who did not hook it up but just grounded the wire, and they say it works fine.
I asked the mechanic at my dealer who puts them in what is the purpose of the reverse wire and he did not know.
My guess is that it has something to do with what would happen if the antenna can not see the satelites, like if you were in a parking garage.
