adhesive remover
Any recommendations on good and safe products for removing adhesive residue from paint? After I took off the crappy racing tape (door numbers for DE) it left some glue on the paint.

Hi,
I always like the old standby - Prepsol. It will work great on adhesives as well as Tar and other nasty stuff w/o harming the paint. It's good stuff to have around, you'll find more uses than you'd have thought of...

Z are you using Zaino? Put a little Z2 on it and see if it will loosen it.

bmuss, I haven't used Zaino. After your heads-up I got their new Clear Seal and was planning to give it a try soon.

I found Goo Gone at Home Depot today (didn't have the 3M remover). Has anyone used it, and will it damage the paint? Jim, where can one get Prepsol?

Hi,
Any body/paint supply store will have it. It's intended purpose is to remove all foreign residue prior to painting...

I guess I could have been "misusing" goo gone- but from applying/removing it felt like i was just manually scrubbing the residue off... Didnt seem to have any effect on helping me remove the "goo" lol

Sometimes Ace hardware has the 3m stuff in stock.

I have used Goo Gone all the time. It will work fine. Just spray it on and let is sit for a little bit then wipe off. It also got some really nasty backed in break dust off the wheels on my old car. The only thing is to keep in mind not to let it sit under direct sunlight. There is a good chance it might damage paint that way, so do it in your garage.

Plain old Naptha a.k.a. regular lighter fluid is all you need.
