I ordered the RoW kit today instead of mixing and matching shocks,springs and so on. I ordered the last one in the U.S.,so if anyone else wants a 5spd RoW kit you have to wait 6 weeks from ordering until they show up from Germany, :p . After the parts show up I will be calling my indy mechanic to do the install and hopefully I can have everything finished by mid-late April. Any suggestions or break in rules apply to a new suspension?

They will actually settle about 1/4 to 1/2 inch more after a couple of days, so when they are first done, dont get upset if they dont look like you thought they would.

Come on now,I know about 50% of the forum members have upgraded their suspension. None of you guys were advised to take it easy for the first 500 miles or something like that on the new suspension?

Well, go 500 miles then check the torque on the sway bars. Thats about all I know about.

I dont see any reason to break it in by taking it easy. The only break in is letting the springs settle and that is noticeable when the car gets a little lower. Other than that enjoy the new setup. I am planning on doing this as well. Hopefully sooner than later.

First thing id do is paint the springs bright blue or red. Just me though.

-The packaging slip said the kit weight 68lbs!!!!Yet I was only charged $28 for shipping?!?!

blink, no break-in is necessary for new suspension pieces. Just bolt them on and enjoy!

Hi,

I think a break-in is prudent with this setup. The Shock/Strut Seals will establish wear patterns in their Bores over the first few hundred miles and the Bushings will as well.

Not saying that it's absolutely necessary, but over the long run, I bet those broken-in experience fewer problems with wear and leaking prematurely than those which were immediately taken to the limit...

did they arrive as pictured? I'm kinda surprised they didn't ship them compressed and tethered down, or in their own seperate box so the piston shafts wouldn't get damaged/scuffed. That's the way I've always recieved new shocks/struts.

how many miles are on your dampers now? Those coils would look nice in red.
I previously had a red front sway which look kind nifty in pictures.

Yes the parts arrived in the crappy packaging as shown,straight from Porsche!

I have 55k on my dampers now,to some that may sound like alot but by no means does the suspension feel worn down. This will be like hitting the 'refresh' button on my suspension and then some I guess. I can't wait to see how good the handling will be,my base Boxster already outhandles my dad's c2 easily. I can't wait to have the parts installed! :D

My RoW kit is being installed Monday,if anyone wants to see any before and after pics or anything speak now.

did those kit come with new boots? I'm betting some of your old ones must be torn at this point...those stupid things are expensive.

No it didn't,the RoW kit can with the shocks,springs,sway bars and bushings. I've looked at my boots and they aren't torn or leaking anything and don't cause any issues so I'm not touching them.

Man this new set up is AWESOME! There is minimal trace of understeer and it honestly feels one step down from a go-kart. The ride quality isn't too harsh,but it is stiffer then the USA 030 stuff it came with. The cars ride height dropped just short of an inch in the front and the rear is the same as before and it better have a bunch of settling to do because I don't like how the car looks now,it's too slanted. Now to get an alignment done.

I will post another long-term review after the suspension settles and I get an alignment.
