Bad Question... I apologize in advance for asking this question...but I could really use a little help... I'm a fromer 914 owner who is about to take the plunge and buy a Boxster--I just love these cars. My problem is that I am a cyclist and this will be an occassional daily driver. I've seen the Porsche roof rack--not bad--but I want to have access to top down driving...Here's the question: Any of you 986 guys ever try putting a bike in the rear trunk with wheels removed. It looks like it could be close to working--obviously I would cover the bike:) Any thoughts? Thanks, Matt |

Welcome to the Forum. There are no bad questions on this site...just bad answers...and I own about 2,730 of them! :) Once you start driving the Boxster, you won't have time (or money) left-over to ride a bike. Sorry. Just a true fact. |

I totally agree with Bmuss...no bad question, just bad answer..hahahahahaha! http://986forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3372 This would be perfect but sold already :( |

Oh yeah, one more thing, Mateo.largo, you will be looking to sell that bike to help fund your "next" mod to the Boxster. It's a sickness...I know! |

You'd need a chain saw to fit a bicycle in the Boxster trunk, either front or back. A rear mounted rack is probably your best bet. |

Thanks for the replies! Little chance of me selling the bikes though...I own more than ten--I work for a Spanish bicycle company...That Porsche RTS (Roof Transport System?) is pretty cool. I've thought about doing that but it takes a little doing to install/remove and I want to be able to operate the top. On my 914, I fashioned a really cool way to mount a Yakima roof rack to the rear trunk lid. It was pretty slick but I am hesitant to do that to the Boxster, especially with the way the lid tapers toward the rear...I've still got a few ideas, but if it fits in the trunk...that would be ideal. Thanks again, Matt |

I can't imagine a full size bike in the back of a Boxster. |

Those last two options looked pretty slick. Thanks again for all the help! Matt |
