I live in Nevada City about 68 miles NNE of Sacramento. There are a number of people living around Sac that post on this board and PPBB. Perhaps a little drive is in order.

Martin, I'm sad to hear your wife didn't get to experience the Boxster with you... among many other things. Trust that she is with you in spirit.

I get some people that think I must be rich driving a Boxster... one kid at the grocery store asked how much I got it for, he threw out "fifty, sixty thousand?". Told him no, got it used for $19k.

Then one day I pull into work (I do technical support at Dell), and a lady that works there is walking out with her husband (it's in the afternoon, I had training in the evening), and he asks if I work there. He thought a tech didn't make enough to afford a car like that! He was also shocked when I told him I got it used for $19k!

Haven't had any chick encounters yet, but I'm not the type to use the kind of car I drive to get tail. Well.... maybe...

This isn’t a boxster story but a Porsche tale nonetheless. I was driving my ’68 self restored 912 at the time and had met several coworkers at a local watering hole after work. One of my friends had asked two attractive women to join our all male gathering and they’d acquiesced. After a short period it became obvious the ladies were “looking for Mr. Right” and he was not seated at our table. During a lull in conversation one of the guys said “I’d rather be cruising in your Porsche than sitting here.” Instantly I became the women’s focus of attention to the point of being asked for my business card (I didn’t have any). Nothing happened. I was too shocked by their reaction to capitalize on the situation but I’ve never forgotten the incident. It’s never been repeated either.

Thanks for sharing your story with us.

I'd planned to take my Boxster to Philadelphia to surprise my father with its purchase. Unfortunately, he died suddenly not long after I bought it, and he never got to see it. In fact, the first time I drove the Boxster to Philadelphia was a race against time, to arrive before my father expired. Alas, even the engineers from Stuttart could not make it so.

My father was a car guy to the core and I inherited my love for automobiles from him. Through his passing, I learned a valuable lesson about what's important and what's not, and the value of dedicating time to your loved ones while they're here. You see, even in death, my father continues to teach me life's most important lessons. I'm certain that my father is riding shotgun with me each time I take the Boxster for a spin... I just hope I'm not making him motion sick when I'm wringing it out.

I don't have that much stories in regards of my Boxster but the one thing I remember most is...If some of you remember the thread I posted few months ago about me and my son's Saturday afternoon drive.

When I took my son to the local morning spirited drive with the guys and after lunch, we took different route on the way home and we end up cruising 45 miles along the coast...while driving, my 8 yr. old son tapped my shoulder and told me " Dad, thanks for waking me up this morning and..I love you dad!"

Gosh, I would cherish that till my maker call me!

every chick that came right out of the gate and asked me what kind of car I had was a head case. Also, not very bright.

You know having a Porsche is nice but it really is just a car. Some cars are nicer than others (like the DB9's I'm looking at right now on Ebay) but none are a solution to anything. And that goes for all material crap.

Someone on CNN was discussing how much happier people who make $50K a year are than people who make just $15K a year. Its a night and day thing.
But the they noted surprisingly, how little increased hapiness seems to come when people go from $50K to $500K.
