where to get manetic autoX numbers?
or magnetic sheets to be cut into numbers?
anything at all, any sources. i signed up for a permanent PCA car number, and got 261 :) thx in advance. |

You can get magnetic sheet from any sign store. Just cut out your numbers and class letters. Make the numbers as big as you can, and the class letters half that size and you'll be good to go.

Hi,
I got mine here: http://www.fireballracegraphics.com/vinyl/catalog/default.php Good price, good product, nice people and they let's you "proof read" your numbers via e-mail before they actually make them for you, which was very good for me, because we went through several renditions (at no extra cost) until I was happy with the result. |
thx guys, Jim that site is sweet, they have a lot of nice stuff on there.
a quick question tho, what would be the class letters? (well obviously i know numbers hehe) |
dj,
Try "Chicago Sign Designs" in Elk Grove Village. 847-228-9333 They made the numbers for my friend and I for our last Autocross... ( Class in my picture would be "AS" for "A Stock" ) See ya Sunday... Nick |
Someone on this site should cut the "Boxster", "Speedster", "986" and "987" trunk emblems out of magnetic material and sell em on ebay. That way we could be a "Boxster" one week and a "986" the next.

Got them at a local sign shop, I think it was around $25-30 for two. The size was 1 foot square if I remember. Did not need a class, since it was for DE. The local DE only required numbers on the sides. I ran a piece of tape along the front edge - didn't know how well the magnets would hold at 100 mph.
As always, check with your local governing body to see what they require... |
I got mine done by a local guy, who really worked hard for me. I brought him my business on Thursday night and he was able to have them ready for me by Sat. afternoon so I could race with them on Sunday. You can see them in my sig. They cost me $100 for two sets of L, A, S, N, 9, 8 and 6 all contour cut.

Another view of home made ones using magnetic sign material from a sign shop. $12 for more than enough material to make 3 sets like this. They have stronger magnetic material than stationery shops, these have stayed on securely at 130+ MPH with no taping required.
Make sure your car and the signs are clean before applying! Slightest dust + vibration = scratches. http://986forum.com/forums/attachmen...tid=1331&stc=1 |
p.s.
limoncello, nice display of weight savings by removing the center caps! |
I bought the rolls of magnetic strip from Michael's, printed out an enlarged numbers on my computer, and use the printed numbers as templates. I think the roll of magnetic material cost about $10 each (I forgot if I used 1 or 2 rolls).

I am surprised no one posted Performance Products..
I just opened my new catalog and a few pages in, boom, there they were. I think like $60.00 or something. I might just buy some to drive around town... people will get out of my way because it will appear that I am involved in some sort of race... Whatever.. just joking. |
I got some here... www.solotime.com
