unklekraker 03-13-2007 08:01 AM

what's up with all these 986forum member showing up with Lambo's or Ferraris? I think I might pick up one or two on the way home today and have my son drive the Gallardo while I drive the F430 :D ahh, what the heck, after I pick up the F430 i'll stop by my wife work, give her the check and have her pick up a S500 v12 Turbo on the way home :D

Oh BTW...good to see you here again, stryker! Nice choice of toy's...garage must look like a Cars R' Us

Perfectlap 03-13-2007 08:41 AM

funny stryke that you should appear the very same day I smashed my latest el cheapo wrist watch. What do you think of the Tag Carrera Chrono? Over priced?
I like this style but with the stainless bracelet.

It's about $1600 more than I have ever spent on an inanimate object. I'm just no good with expensive things like sitting on expensive sunglasses. With watches I always end up bashing it against a door knob or wall somehow.
so I was leaning toward the el cheapo Tag F1 Chrono for $500. Seems like a bargain for saphire crystal.

Stryke, I saw your new Lambo over at the Paneristi Forum (Panerai Watches). Looked nice! I bought my PAM 90 and will pick-up my PAM 232 just before Christmas.

bmussatti 03-13-2007 09:08 AM

Here it is:

Brucelee 03-13-2007 09:19 AM

That is just drop-dead gorgeous!

Stryke 03-13-2007 10:13 AM

Hey Richard, good to see you again. :)

PAM guy........

TAG guy, I know absolutely nothing about cheap watches, sorry I can't help.

Everyone else, I forgot all about this place till I went to my brothers house and saw the forum in my old computer's favorites in IE...LOL

Good to see familiar names. :)

06 range as a winter beater? <--- nice

Stryke 03-13-2007 01:21 PM

I don;t like SUV's but we get snow in winter and it was my wifes B-Day in November so two birds with one stone. :)

@ Stryke,

How do you like the Lotus? How much does it cost for maintainence? How does it match up against the Lambo? I think I might get one in a couple of years.

Stryke 03-13-2007 02:08 PM

Can't even mention the two in the same sentence. The Lotus is a grossly underpowered go-kart which is fun to drive but slow and cheap. It is about $40K and is free to own. Insurance is nothing and a clutch is like $500. The Lambo is $210K and a clutch is $8,000 and a basic fluid service is about $2,000. It is a 520HP V10 while the Lotus is a 190HP Toyota 4cyl. Fun toy but nothing more. Real ******************** to get in and out of makes it not practical for frequent use. Buy it only as a 3rd or 4th car which is what I did. My little 23 year brother put double the miles on it that I did.

You ever consider supercharging it? I heard it knocks it into sub 3 second 0-60mph group.

TriGem2k 03-13-2007 02:10 PM

Stryke....Your Avatar kinda freaks me out...

boggtown 03-13-2007 02:12 PM

So you think if you put the lambo V10 in the lotus youd have a nice little car? lol, I think that engine would bow the frame, but a turbo charger would boost the power some.

Perfectlap 03-13-2007 02:29 PM

Some of my buddys swear by the Lotus, despite the rindonkulus price for a toyota 1.8 or whatever. And not one of them complains of the modest HP. Its for the track/autox not for cruising on the real world streets. They've got a version of the Elise for that, but it won't ever be sold stateside.

of course power isn't always a substitue for big weight and lesser handling
particularly in the hands of a A+ driver

Stryke 03-13-2007 02:42 PM

As I said before, the Lotus is not a car, it is a go-kart and a good bang for the buck since it is so cheap to buy and to service. Still no comparison to the Lambo at all.
