Brake Pads

How do you know when it's time to replace the brake pads or have the rotors turned?

Thanks

- when the Brake Wear light comes on on the dash.

Anyway, my Box had 40k miles on it when I got it, and the pads were almost on the wear sensors. About $110 and two hours of my time, and I had them swapped. The rotors should be fine, but next time I have to replace pads, I will go ahead and replace the rotors.

If you want to gauge your rotors, here's the specs:

Front rotors 24mm new 22mm worn
Rear rotors 20mm new 18mm worn

Basically, if your front rotor is less than 22mm, you'd need to replace it. 18mm for the rear.

Here's a stupid question...

Does my 1999 have a "brake wear indicator" ?

Thanks,

Nick

Yes they do and they only need to be replaced if the brake wear indicator is set off.
