WTB: 986 Hardtop (GTA)
 

Long shot here but I am looking for a hardtop for my 986. Any colour will do but preference goes to Ocean Metallic Blue. I am located in the GTA and have the spindle and lock bolts installed for ease of purchase and installation. I am willing to travel or arrange shipping in the right circumstances. Thanks!

Had it on Kijiji a few months ago and not much action.
About a month ago one of my sons decided to put it on Facebook marketplace and it sold in 4 days.

Not many people looking for them. I bought it from someone that had it up for sale for over 2 months, he never used it, it was like brand new.
The price was good, so I knew I would make a profit on it.

Let me know if you ever come across one. There is one one Kijijo right now but we couldn't agree on a mutual price.

I don`t know what your max limit is, but you won`t find them for sale in Canada to often. I just bought it because my friend never used it and wanted the space in the garage. :)

Just so you have an idea what you can expect to pay. I bought it for $1150.00CAD and sold it for $1550.00CAD.
It was basically brand new, no scratches and had only been used 2 or 3 times.

In Northern California they're selling for 2-3x that much, and sell quickly. I've seen a few come up on craigslist but have been unable to get one so far.

Yeah...If they are in good condition you can expect to pay around 2k CAD. around here.
I bought my first one for $1850.00 CAD. Had to drive 5 hours round trip and then payed another $800.00 to get it painted + I had to buy the spinlocks & bolts from sun'coast.

That sucks.
The thing is that they don't come up for sale to often in Canada, that's why they ask so much for them.
Keep looking, sooner or later you'll find one that you're happy with the price.

$2k CAD seems reasonable.

Like I said before, they are hard to find in Canada up for sale. I looked almost everyday for about a year before I found one.

I do have one that I’ve previously, passively, offered for sale. Still on the fence about it but would be happy to entertain questions, offers. It’s Arena Red, from my ‘98, and sitting in my garage in Seattle. Other than a few scratches from PO storing it, it’s in really fine condition.

For $3k you'd see a bunch of previously hoarded hardtops suddenly become available.

(I guess they don't like posting competitor names) a particular online Porsche parts dealer in a city in Georgia lists it at around $4,800 without accessories (not sure what the 'accessories' are exactly) but from what I understand they are unobtainium new, so used is the only route, and most of us who have them want to keep them.

I found one a few months ago in Burlington $800. Cheap ones are out there. Few and far between but they are out there.

I have one for sale in Portland, Maine. A hike but it's a nice time of the year to visit Maine. It's listed in the F/S section from a few weeks ago. Not a lot of interest in it. Comes with the OEM trolly and cover. Seal Gray.

After years of painstaking searching, I finally got a hardtop for my car! We can now lay this thread to rest and be rid of all the scammers! :D
