FS: McMaster-Carr 9657K142 Compression Spring for Clutch Pedal

Hey guys, I have a couple spare McMaster springs from a recent clutch pedal mod. If anyone is looking to get one and not have to buy a full pack, Ill mail em out for $5 shipped each. Just PM me if you need one.

There is a spring that "assists" with clutch pedal depression. Removing the spring makes the pedal feel much heavier but more precise. For some people, it feels to heavy. This part has about half the force of the OEM spring, so that you get the best of both worlds (ish). Id like to know the OPs opinion on the mod.

I did the spring mod on my 996.2. Immediately the car felt like a real German sports car. But there were times I regret it especially in heavy rush hour stop and go traffic. I still have nightmares removing the original spring and installing the McMaster spring, but the 2nd time was a lot easier.

Where it burned me was when I sold the car and during the PPI process. A "reputable" Porsche shop decided to mark in the PPI my clutch was on its way out, not knowing I did the spring mod. The buyer tried to use it to their advantage during a negotiation and in the end, we both walked from the deal.

Having a 986.2 now, I don't feel I need the spring mod but the spring mod works well depending on your use case and situation.

I'm curious, did you ever drive it without the spring at all?
