I've got a few complete top frames from '99 and '01. It looks like that part is the same for all years of 986. Are you in the USA for shipping?

Now you're confusing me... Left or right? Arm for the clamshell or pillar for the top?

I have tops, but I'm not positive I have extra clamshell arms for both sides. I've had a couple crack.

I need the right side one, passenger on left hand drive car.

I apologize for being confusing. Trying to figure this out. Without the forum it would be even harder.

Thanks,

David

I don't think there is anything wrong with that arm in your picture. The ball socket attached on the end in your last photo snaps into a square black plastic piece (part #26 in the diagram) which slides in the track. It is a bit of work to get the #26 part out but you may be able to get it snapped back inif you unbolt the arm from the clamshell.

Right, That arm is cast aluminum and more likely to break than bend. I don't think that the ball will pop back in, but the whole track is just held on with two bolts. Undo the rear bolt, pop off the washer and (26) slides right out with (18) attached.

Pics in a little bit. I have the parts.

Last big chunk of an '01 in my junk pile:

I can't believe I still find usable parts on it:

You want (26) and (18)? Can you ship a 6 pack of beer from Washington or should we just say you owe me one? (PM me where to mail a padded envelope)

The photo doesn't show as well as I hoped. I replaced #26 and the bushes. The slight degree of bend moves the clam shell to the left.

It doesn't appear that you have one in the 01 photo?

The pin shoots off at a weird angle, I believe because of the bend.
