Lightbulb WTB: Airbag Deactivation Bar

Picking up ‘01 Boxster over the weekend - super excited!!!

Wanting to see if anyone had an airbag deactivation bar available for sale? Would be great if it also came with the male receptacle (or fabricated key) to go with it. Both kiddos are too big for a car seat, but not big enough to potentially have an airbag explode in their little face. I’ve checked eBay, but feel better purchasing this type of part from a fellow Porsche enthusiast.

Feel free to PM, respond to thread, smoke signal ...

Thanks in advance. Cheers!

Welcome! Congratu... uh... I'll save the congratulations for when you post pics.

In the meantime... color? Interior? Accoutrements? Plans?

Cheers!

Thanks for the greeting

Hey there. I was going to post something more formal in the general forum after i pick it up later this weekend, but appreciate the kind greetings!

As a preview, it's silver/black top on gray interior (plan to get far more granular after I have some info pulled by VIN), 5 speed, standard equipment, but must have some sort of packages as it's equipped with power/memory seats, cupholders, upgraded sound system. Also has a Borla exhaust and some other goodies.

Overall in great shape insofar as my inspection went, but will be entrusting it to the gents at Berg Performance in Denver, CO, as I do with the other two P cars =)

Look forward to sharing more particulars soon, but impromptu photo attached!

I have the bar and buckle unfortunately I have to keep the buckle attached or my air bag light stays on. Let me see if I can find a way to deactivate the extra buckle.

I have the deactivation bar in the car and the entire car seat that has the buckle. Let me know if still needed. Located in SoCal.

@walt2810 - thanks for the reply sir! I’m still in the hunt and interested in the deactivation bar, but not needing a car seat (just buckle, but know it comes as one unit). If you’re interested in just selling the bar, please let me know. I’m in Denver, CO so would need it shipped. Thanks again!

Look on eBay, there is a guy that makes a switch that you can toggle the deactivation. You will still need a dealer to enable that option in the car. ( I told them I had a bar on order and just needed the option enabled)

https://imgur.com/a/vVNFh5mNo problem, been using it for over 3 years. My youngest loves to go cruising. Took her for a parade lap at the local track and she was pissed at how slow we were going and told me to honk haha

got this all sorted so kids can ride! thanks @walt2810 for the bar and buckle and shout out to @Fintro11 for the eBay contact in the UK.

FWIW, the eBay chap is not *actively* making bypass switches any longer, but seems willing to do so on an ad-hoc basis. i just messaged him through the eBay platform and he got back to me straight-away.

try this link - https://ebay.co.uk/usr/hfaning

you may need to change your country in eBay "settings" to "United Kingdom" to get the link to work. If I remember correctly, i was able to find a way to message him as an eBay user in the desktop platform, not the mobile platform. I was only able to contact him through eBay. I don't have a regular email for him.

Hope this helps.
