I have the deactivation bar and the Porsche Zoom boaster seat (not for infants but 3-6 year olds, its nice because it folds for easy trunk storage). $250 including shipping and it yours. It is out of my 2000 Boxster. If you want a picture of the seat let me know, email mark.harper@dssah.daicel.com

I'm only interested in the deactivation bar and not the seat. Let me know if you wish to part with it.

Is your car already programmed by Porsche for a child seat? Then there is a simple hack with a few registers and a switch to turn on/ off the pass airbag. Basically when the bar is buckled, the resistance value changes and that's you need to feed the system. Search the forum. I did the hack and sold the bar... I think roughly 2.3Kohms for normal/ on, 250ohms for off.

How can i tell? I saw a post before in putting a resistor inline.. but rather get the porsche part. if the bar malfunction, someone else picks up the tab.

Not sure how to tell if it is already programmed, but if you want to go after someone for potential issues then you probably have to go to Porsche dealership and have them install the new one and program it for $$$. Don’t expect someone selling you a used one will give you any warranty.

You can tell AFTER the bar is installed. The airbag light will behave differently after starting the car. Mostly likely, it isn't activated and you'll need to find a dealer or indie to do so. They can probably tell you ahead of time with their computers.

BTW: there's a good chance a dealer (or an indie for that matter) will want to see a child seat when they go to activate the child seat option to prove you're doing this for a legitimate reason. Why? Well you are asking them enable your turning off a safety system, which exposes them to huge potential liabilities.

Right, SRS light flashes or something when pass side airbag is deactivated. But no way to tell otherwise without the bar or the proper register in series.

Good point, that means you have to buy a Porsche childseat with a proper buckle too.

FYI, the bar uses longer mounting bolts for the front.

Pretty sure my car has one, and my kids are too big for car seats anyway. I'll take a look tonight.

You may need to check your liability insurance before selling it to him!
