FS: 996 / 986 Headlights with TechArt Style Covers in Black
For sale is a set of original all clear Porsche 996/986 headlights off a 2001 996 (made by BOSCH); all bulbs included. They have TechArt style headlight covers which are very expensive and difficult to find (just Google it). The covers were painted in original Porsche black and silicone to the headlights by the previous owner (see pictures below of these headlights on the previous owner’s black 996). All are in very good condition.

Honestly, your price is waaaay too high and those covers are ugly as hell.
The insides are also yellow and brown, like the bulbs got too hot. If you take the covers off and the headlights look good underneath, I'll give you $400. |

My offer of $400 still stands, but only if the lenses look good under the covers.
Or just keep holding your breath for another year  Nobody likes those hideous covers. |

There could be an issue trying to separate them without damaging the covers though depending on where the adhesive was used, and how much of it. The fiberglass isn't very thick. I think they look good when they match the body color. Wait, what were we discussing? |
The previous owner used adhesive silicon and he stated the covers can be remove if needed. I'm not sure of the cover material but they do seem pretty strong.

Only a tasteless "G-money" would want those. Lay off the weed, burnout. It's affecting your judgement. |
No need to trash the thread if you are not interested, just move on...

Evo, if indeed "silicon" sealant that's a very easy removal mate. Heat them in the oven at 225 for 10~15min and pry gently. Doesn't budge? throw them in the oven for another 5min at a time. They'll eventually give up. If composite glue was used then you are screwed. Method works for 'silicon' base sealant only.
Not sure about chemical to use to clean silicon from the the surface (acetone?), regardless - if any damage occurs to the lens, you can easily wet sand those (polycarbonate) and polish them back to near factory looking quality. Been there done that 10 times now lol glws |
Fahrenheit, 225 fahrenheit lol

There is even a forum tool to help with that...

Use a strong denim thread or string to "floss it off" and mineral spirits to clean up silicone. Works like a charm ;) |

I'm sure you'd find a buyer on ebay ;)
