I was under the impression that they should definitely fit all 986 boxster, 97-2004. What happened when you tried to fit them?

I'm curious as well. I thought all 97-04 pre-facelift headlights were the same.

There shouldn't be a problem unless you got the wrong drive side.

These fit into the fenders of my '01, however there is a gap between the lower portion where the headlight meets the top of the bumper.(it is not flush like the original lights) Also, when installed, the fog lights are very dim and the turn signal flashes very irregular and fast. I was told that there was a facelift 2003 and that they are different....

Are the signal bulbs led? An led light only draw a fraction of an amp, where an incandescent draws 3-4. It tricks the car into thinking there is a bulb out, so you get the fast flash. Often a special led flasher unit must be used (it has a resistor).

Bulbs are not LED. They are just like the original.
I guess these are only for the 2003-2004 "post face lift" 986's....

particlewave 03-24-2014 08:21 AM

No, "Stratocaster", haha!
These are not "post facelift" as I suggested on rennlist. I was picturing the light below, which you clearly don't have. I am seriously puzzled by this.

particlewave 03-24-2014 08:25 AM

Never mind...

There was a "facelift" for the 986 Boxster in 2003
These headlights are for 2003, 2004

Thanks though...

Thanks for the info. Were these the Magneti Marelli or the Bosch headlights?
Should not matter, just curious
I had to replace a headlight on my '04 GT3 track car - that was a Magneti Marelli, and the other one was a Bosch....???

particlewave 03-26-2014 08:35 AM

The manufacturer doesn't matter. I have both Bosch and MM...they are exactly the same.

Thanks for the input guys....
I just trial fitted one of them and maybe I just got it off track...baring that, I have no clue on this.
Will revisit this later today...

supersparker 03-26-2014 03:22 PM

I guess I had it off of one of the tracks to where it would fit 95% :o
anyway...thanks for the input. Funny..I was actually told by the local dealer that it was a "no-go"

particlewave 03-26-2014 07:16 PM

Good to hear ;)

I was getting very close to buying them :D
