986 Glass top Convertible

I have a nearly new Glass top convertible 3 Bow off of
an 01 Boxster S.
The top appears to be very new (I recently purchased the car
and I am gutting it for the track).
It looks to be only a couple years
old if that. No scuffs, blemishes, tears.

It has a glass rear window with embedded defroster and tint.

The car has been sitting in the shop and is a little dusty
but the top is in great condition.

It also has the S style headliner.

$1100 obo. Calculate shipping from 78744.

thanks,

Mike

FYI the top brand new from GAHH (forum sponsor) is around $675.00

Should you bring the price down substantially below the $675 retail, I would be very interested and I'll drive over to Austin and pick it up from you so you don't have to ship it.

Since Mike is gutting the car for the track, he may be talking about the complete top and frame assembly. In that case, "retail" is a lot higher than $675.

The list price from Porsche for the frame assembly is astronomical.

If the frame were from and 03 or 04 and the glass window was the larger variety, I would pay far more.

yeah it sounds like the entire top, not just the material + window...

Of course, the hidden advantage is that replacing the entire top and frame assembly is a two hour job, maximum, and an easy DIY.

Installing the canvas onto the frame is quite a bit more involved and not as easy a DIY.

Regards, Maurice.

I wanted to be fair - so I contacted the manufactures of typical glass plus top replacements. The equivalent to what I think I have is offered at $925 from GAHH. This includes the 2nd layer headliner. However that is only the
canvas and glass.

What I have is the complete assembly, with the newer canvas and glass
already mated with the complete 3 bow top assembly.

Regardless of the cost of the underassembly, the cost to put the canvas
and glass on is not cheap.

I'll listen to offers, but I think my price is in a reasonable ball park.

If you come to Austin and pick it up -- I'll remove your old one
and install this one for $100 extra.

thank you,

Mike

Also affecting the value of the top

is the age of the top. Early GAHH and Robins tops had some tops with bonding problems where the glass met the fabric. Since improved.

Also the quality of the install on the frame.

Might also want to confirm the color. Looks gray in the pictures but may be black.
