Boxster on dyno
Here's a short video of my car on the dyno this past weekend. I was suprised by the power I am getting with only a custom exhaust mod. I'm looking forward to the intake and GIAC mod hopefully coming for Christmas. :)
239.87 HP at the wheels. http://www.emeraldcitycustoms.com/videos/david_dyno.wmv -David |
Nice! Too bad you captured sound on the wrong side;) Can you post the charts?

David
Nice numbers ...Congrats Can you give us some more informations , about this exhaust ! Its only the mufflers , or complete system with headers etc ? |
Very cool video! Numbers look really good! I would have to reiterate Takis' question on the mods. Which ones did you have installed? Could you show us some pics? I may have missed it if you already posted it elsewhere. If this was the case, could you direct me to a link(s)?
Thanks. |
Post some pics of your exhaust. It is a real cool idea that your guy fabed up and it should be the way the car was stock.
BTW I will need his contact info. |
Here's a picture of the exhaust
http://www.emeraldcitycustoms.com/images/PC166494.jpg It's a single Magnaflow muffler connected directly to the factory headers. So it's the same as buying the cat-bypas pipes and an aftermarket muffler for less than half the price. I could not be happier with the HP gains and the sound coming out of it. I would have recording the video from the back end, but I wanted to be able to see the numbers when I zoomed in. I will try to get some good sounds clips over the next week or so. Josh, I will hook you up with the guys info. He is about 2 miles away from my house. Those scratches on the bumper are from one on my spins at an autocross event. Spun out and nailed a cone. Man, those cones can do some damage. You should see the dent on the side of my car from a cone. -David |
Sure you p-Shop out your lic plate but on 6speed you keep mine up?????
Some guys! |
You must be crazy, I did the same on yours. :)
Ok, I guess I was tired when I posted the pictures last night. It's been fixed now. |
Thanks David...

What is the total cost and the approximate weight savings? Jeff :) |
@ David,
That's pretty neat,I didn't know they built it from the headers back. |
I spent $680 before tax on the entire exhaust including labor. I'm not sure of the exact weight loss, but it's a lot. Going from the stock heavy muffler and 2nd cats to a small single muffler with the pipes has got to be a lot for a mod like this.
This past weekend Josh and I discovered a small different between his 2000 S and my 2001 S. His 2nd cats have an O2 sensor after the cat, when mine did not. Mine only has an O2 sensor before the 1st cat, and then one right after it, all on the header. Everything I did to the exhaust was after all O2 sensors. -David |
David_J, how much do they charge for a dyno-run? Thanks.
|
3 runs cost $100. Another place around here charges $145 for 6 runs.
|
what kind of dyno is the other and who has it?
|
They have both a Mustang and a DynoJet. I will PM you the info.

I'm sure it changed it a little, but nothing that I can tell. It should be no different than when I pull the spare tire out up front for an autocross event. When I put in new seats, that will also reduce weight and change the distribution.
I guess there are many things that can change the weight distribution, but that is fine. If you calculate how much 20-30lbs changes it, it's not much. -David |
That's pretty much what I was getting at. :) People like to ask about weight savings and all that stuff, but if it's not a change along the lines of 100 pounds or more, the weight savings are pretty unnoticeable.

The weight loss from the exhaust makes up for what I've gained this year by eating too much. :)

curious to know
What would a stock Boxster S put down at the wheels?
Is there a lot of loss due to tranny? I'm curious because my experience to this point has been North American products. Anybody know? |

I have a dyno in the Pomona, Ca area. A dynapack unit, that does not require strapping of your car and the repeatability and precision is superb.
More info is on my site, or PM for details: http://www.bisimoto.com/wst_page8.html |
