I wonder what the rebuild cost, any idea what something like that would cost?

A normal rebuild is probably $10k

The p&c's are $4k or so from lne

It needed crank work and he replaced the cams
It also had a new lw flywheel.

So I'm going to say it was every bit of $20k, or about 2-3 Boxsters

Thats a 30K engine all totaled. I am building a first year 930 engine now that will run 35K.

Parts for aircooled engines are MUCH more expensive than the M96.

Yeah, the air cooled costs are pretty dear when it comes to digging into the motor. Ninemeister (in the UK) some amazing work with these motors too, they also perform turnkey conversions / builds. I've spoke to Colin there a few times, very good people.
