Hey,
I'm new here, how's it going? "The most fundamental harm we can do to ourselves is to remain ignorant by not having the courage and the respect to look at ourselves honestly and gently" - Pema Chodron --- Eternity http://alturl.com/bqff------do not open this link Forward Message This is the second one of these i have received in my in box both from different users. I would be willing to bet the link is a virus you can try it for yourself if you wish Run |
Yup, me too. This user: http://986forum.com/forums/

That user has been deleted. I recommend you change your forum password.

Really? Not that I followed the link, but was there a concern?
|
Yes - the concern is there has been a recent spate of spam emails to forum users.

Apparently it's obvious; however, I still don't see why that requires me to change my password.
|
Well, one concern is that if whomever did breach the data on this site and got a hold of your email address, that means they probably also possibly cracked your password, which you might also be using the same exact password on other websites. Get it? Safer then, to spend a few seconds at least changing your password to something that doesn't tie into any of your other accounts that you normally have to sign into.
|
Ah, so there was a data breach. Thank-you, that information makes sense of the suggestion.
