New rotors and calipers painted today step by step
 

Caliper came off real easy. Just 2 bolts and one 10mm bolt that holds the brake line on the back. Pulled out the pads and slid off the caliper and put it on some random bucktet I had layin around.

Getting the screws out for the rotor to come off was, well the first one was no problem just a philips and a vicegrip. The second one had to meet my makita and a drill bit. Once the rotor came off i just spun the remainder of the drilled screw out by hand. No big deal. New rotor fit perfect. I will get another screw for the other hole. As for the paint I used the brake parts cleaner that came with the kit and a wire brush and a rag to clean the calipers. If you are going to do this go get like 2 more cans of brake parts cleaner. I used almost half the can on one caliper. I used the cheesey little brush supplied with the kit and taped the lines with the tape also supplied. I did a light coat and then layed it on. It came out alot smoother just slaping the paint on there. Did about 3-4 coats and let dry. Smacked the sticker on it, and clear coated it with high temp clear about 4 thin coats. I am letting it dry now and will have the finished product in about 2 hours I'd say..

All done. With one.. lol takeing my time. As you can see I spilt paint. SUX. Lemme know what you think. I can't get a full side shot right now, there is still a couple of inches on the ground infront of my garage.

Looks good, my next mod. Sadly, I would have suggested G2 caliper paint instead. Ive used both the dupli color and the G2 and the G2 is way way better.

Well done. Hopefully, with the nice prep work you did, your results will last a few years! A nice visual improvement!
Can you comment on the cost?

They look great but you did the same thing I did and you put them on backwards the rotor you have on the left side should be on the right side. I posted pics of mine I think they are on page 3. Hope this helps.

great results. i did the same w the brush on kit. came out 100 times better than the spray can that i used on other cars.
plus the can of paint can last for quite a few cars ;)

19.98 - Duplicolor caliper kit and the can of high temp clear from pepboys
I am going to have to buy another couple cans more of brake parts cleaner to finish up the job.

I was so happy to be working on the car I didn't even look to see if there was a difference. - 12:22am. Damn had to go look if in fact they were backwards.. Yup backwards. Thankfully I just did that one today. Fix that tomorrow. Thanks again.

Very nice job!!! I especially liked the screwdriver with the vise grip technique :) I will definitely have to try that out. I've actually had my rotors (similar ones) sitting in my garage for months now awaiting the day that I can get to that mod! I'll be doing the calipers as well. Can't wait!

BTW, is the technique the same for the removal and installation of the front and rear rotors?? Any differences?? Anything you would do differently if you had to do them again??

Yup.. There was no difference. The only thing I think I would have done different is to order some chinese food while waiting for the paint to dry. :cheers:

Impact Driver?
 

I know it's not as elegant a solution as the ViseGrip-Phillips technique :) , but I've found an impact tool very helpful for rotor positioning bolts. One whack with the hammer and-Presto!-the rusted whatever is loose, the head intact, and my screwdriver not gurred up by the mating session with the ViseGrips Just a thought ;)

At the time it seemed to be the best thing. I also had help from mike "mikes hard lemonades) :) Thanks for the tip though. Hopefully others will follow your lead. :D
