Nice Car! Rare color. I'll give you a big wave if I see you driving around Chicago!

Who is doing the paint work??

CJ_Boxster 10-26-2006 01:18 PM

986 badge

Good idea with replacing the boxster badge with the 986 badge... Look at my sig.

986 ?

Do you know where a good place is to get a 986 sticker. My "Boxster" badge on the back is missing part of the "B" from the prevous owner. Is it easy to take off the "Boxster" and clean up the adhesive?

Its not easy to remove the boxster emblem at all, its got this high quality foam with doublesided adhesive on it. You'll basically have to break off the emblem in peices, then there will be the foam adhesive stuck, to remove it, i just rubbed it off really really really hard with my thumb. There might still be some remnence of the adhesive stuck on the trunk after you removed the foam... I used Meguires Polish to even out the color and remove the remaining adhesive. after 1 minute of polishing by hand you couldnt tell an emblem was even there. http://www.bumperplugs.com/ is where i bought my emblem from, They already have the proper adhesive backing on them, And they are already slanted the correct angle that they need to be, just try your hardest to lay them perfectly level and in or around the same spot as the Boxster emblem.

Use a Tape Measurer. It helps abit.

BTW its not a sticker, its a satin black plastic emblem just like the OEM boxster emblem.

Do you leave them on the car and mask everything, or do you remove them and the bleeder valve and give it that true boxster S look?

djomlas 10-26-2006 11:36 PM

i actually prefer a nice soft brush and apply 3-4 coats on.
seems to be holding up better than spraypainting it, and if u should happen to get any chips, also easier to touch up

Take the 'C' off of the Carrera badge and you can have a Coxster. ;)

"Take the 'C' off of the Carrera badge and you can have a Coxster."

I have a feeling you just started a new "mod" wave. Those 'C's are headed for the sky on Ebay. Same thing for the 'oxster', as Carrera owners will be after it, as well. :)

use dental floss to remove the trunk badge. Took about a minute by wiggling the dental floss from left to right. To remove the glue use and advesive remover which you can find at the auto store. Its used to remove bumper stickers and velcro stuff. Use a paint polish or dawn dish soap to strip it clean.

Check ebay for a Boxster emblem or maybe as your local porsche dealer if they have a 968 badge and you can rearrange the number to say 986.
