Ah yes, a debadged Boxster with S exhaust... you are not alone. Welcome to the club.

Next you will be instructed to get rid of ANY amber on your car, purchase a new set of wheels, then promply put side skirts on (props to PerfectLap). That is of course AFTER you question the check engine light and/or alarm chirp. You are prohibited from using a K&N air filter and are required to take a driver's education class for better performance. Follow these simple instructions and you'll do just fine.

Car looks sharp!

krn986 08-15-2006 05:06 PM

thanks! I was thinking of removing all the amber lights and going with the euro style... But the headlights are so expenisive! I'm going to mod this slowly take my time :) Rims would come last

bull27 08-15-2006 07:39 PM

Whats up man, welcome. Clear sides, White or smoked style tailights, and 18" rims. IMHO they are all necessities, and will make a huuuggggeeeeeee difference on a black box. Good luck with it!!!

bull27 08-15-2006 07:42 PM

P.S. what is up with that picture of a girl as your signature, or is that you before a big night out??

Sorry had to ask

Well, since you said "Please" - Welcome!

A few more notes....
There are no "cheap" performance mods (see driving classes).
Yes, your engine may be one of the "sleeved" engines and blow up.
Yes, the white smoke is normal.
The airbag light is caused by the seatbelt mechanism.
It it starts running poorly - it's probably your MAF.
Small oil leaks under the rear could be your RMS.
If the windows don't operate properly it's your regulator.
If the top doesn't work - it's likely the micro-switches or cables.
If it beeps when you hit the alarm - you left something open.
No, you can't rotate your tires.
If you need a part - check out sponsors first.
If your trunk is wet - it might be the coolant tank.
The interior sensor doesn't work with the top down - buy the "red clip"
The "clicking" on the clutch is the switch allowing you to start your car.
Don't even ask about Clear Bras versus regular
Don't even ask about "cheap" tires.
Posts about how fast you went or who you beat will not get you much love here.
Anything "RUF" apparently makes your Boxster "better"
Don't expect 911 owners to even look at you
Perfectlap is the one to ask about car care.
MNBoxster probably has most of your technical answers.
Don't get Brucelee started on Corvettes and Porsche reliability.
Randall is a "good guy" and has probably fixed everything there is to fix on a 99.
You should hook up with TriGem2K and BlinkWatt - they're about your same age.
We don't know what Grizzly does - but you don't want to meet him while he's working.

Welcome to the wonderful world of boxster fanatics!

who is that girl on your signature?? :D

Perfectlap 08-17-2006 11:52 AM

Is it just me or does anyone else flip out when they hear I'm 19 and I have a Porsche?

I'll tell you a funny story. Many jobs ago I worked with this guy who was moon lighting (that means he had a night job as well) as a stand up comic. The guy was in his late 30's and was about to get engaged. He had allot of goals. One day while we working he told me:
HIM: "if nothing works out for me I have one goal that I WILL ATTAIN!"

ME:"oh yeah, what's that?"

HIM: "one day I will own a Porsche! I don't care what happens I will have a Porsche".

ok the interesting thing about this was that this dude wasn't even a car guy!
I don't know how many times I have been stoped by older guys and said "you know you own my dream car...Porsche".

At 19, 20 and already sitting behind the wheel of a P-Car, what could possibly top this? Mercs and BMWs are nice but Porsches are rare birds.

p.s.
try washing your car with optimum no-rinse from detailcity.com
its a more delicate wash on black paint. My last car was black I know your pain.

KronixSpeed 08-17-2006 12:25 PM

i hear ya, 19 wow lucky man. i feel so lucky to be driving a porsche at 28.

atleast he gets to take full advantage of the young women that will be flocking to his porsche. i seem to get a lot of 19 year old women that i have no use for.

welcome to my world!

boggtown 08-17-2006 12:30 PM

Huh? I got a Z3 when I was 16 and my Porsche when I was 17. Sure ours are older, but you older guys bet the newer cars. So it all evens out. (show me the kid with the carrera gt and I will show you a lottery winner or the son of a millionaire... or he stole it, lol)

I drove a 1993 Honda Prelude for 3months until my Boxster came in. I got sooo much **************** in high school having a Porsche. Hell even now 5 years later people still give me crap about it.

z12358 08-17-2006 12:39 PM

I would have thought that someone in their late-30s would be wise to discern that happiness from material goods (Porsches included) is one of the fleeting kind. I hope he gets his Porsche (learns the lesson) sooner rather than later.

Perfectlap 08-17-2006 01:34 PM

I think you will find that the biggest consumers of luxury goods are NOT those in their 20's. Once that mooolah starts rolling in from a little on the job expertise those in their 30's and 40's start accumulating. The way people buy luxury crap nowadays has to be at an all time high. It's like its the 80's all over again.
Fendi, Porsche, Rolex, Moet all this stuff used to be for only the very wealthy and now people who barely make 50K a year are spending 10K on Plasma TV, 2K on handbag, 5K on a writst watch. Materiality has become a plague and those barely old enough to drink think its way things should be.
