Painted Rear Taillights

Painted the rear tailights and they look pretty good. Im still gonna do the front and side markers, but the back needed it the most. And I used the nite shades stuff, but it was accualy 18 dollars instead of 17, lol.

The can says for offroad use only, but the light shines through just perfect (amber is amber, the reverse light is even white, red is red, etc..). But its a special translucent paint so I shouldnt get any crap from cops.

I wouldn't be so sure. Looks good though... hopefully you don't get hassled for it.

When people risk their lives, shouldn't it be for something very important?
Well, it better be.
But what is so important about driving faster than anyone else?
Lots of people go through life doing things badly. Racing's important to men who do it well.
When you're racing, it's life. Anything that happens before or after is just waiting.

Looks pretty good, Im glad you didnt black them out so much like that dude on ebay selling them for like 300 bucks. How well do they shine? would you beable to wax over the smoke paint after it sets?...like, to increase the glossy look?

I will try to wax some of one tailight to see if it does shine up, but my real plan is to clear coat them. The thing is that they could be shiny but you have to put the paint on so thick itd run, so I just did light coats. Its still glossy, just not like the car. I am doing the fronts and side markers today so I will have pics up soon. I guess I should have put this thread in the general discusion considering only 3 people replied, seems liek no one cares about the show and tell, lol.

For now I am leaving the center brake light. I kinda like it red. Like ive said in earlier posts, I wanted the spyder "all red" tail lights, but black is a very very good compromise. Besides, I dont want to be too monochrome. Here are some pics with the lights on, and like I said, just about all the light comes through. And I used my camera phone so the quality isnt the greatest.

Simulated 996

Check it, if you dip the line you could make it slightly resemble a 996...

I really do like the 996 lights, but I would only be able to do that if they were clears and painted the rest of the marker black. It would be very hard to paint it silver and keep it from looking "ghetto". Its definately sweet though if there was a way.
