Bluetooth

ordered this today while the radio is out...

And that turned into...

Tomikaze 04-03-2017 11:33 AM

Radio surround

All scuffed up like most of the other black soft touch interior trim. Gave it shot with Rustoleum Flexidip and I am impressed. VERY close to the original factory look and feel. Forgot to get a before shot but now I am working on the center console.

I was actually thinking of ordering one of those Tranzit Blu HF units. I have a parrot phone kit but because of the MOST system in my 2004 S, the parrot needs an external speaker. And that's rubbish compared to the multiple speakers in the car. Let me know how you find it.

hands free microphone Transit Blu

The Bose auto pilot doesn't make much difference in sound volume so I sacrificed that mic location for my bluetooth install. Totally stock look.

Don't forget to order the antenna adaptor. Waiting for the amazon delivery today so I can test it out tonight.

Ahh ok.. Didn't realise it wouldn't fit the stock connector. Thanks for that.

Stop whatever you are doing and buy this little gadget. It's slick as hell. I personally think it sounds great. The volume does drop a little but who cares. Crank it up. Sounded crystal clear to me. The microphone picked up my voice perfectly from the stock location. Totally a stealth install. Worth every penny.

Transit Blu Install

This is a great little add for the factory radio. Totally stealth. Works like a charm. I'm tickled pink over this $100 upgrade. Don't forget to order the antenna adaptor.

Factory microphone location works perfect.

Really nice dude. Showed up to the local Porsche meet in his 911 R. Had him autograph my trunk lid.

Is that Palmer? I was there last year. In case you're interested, Brey Krause told me this was the tape to use to protect your roll bar paint from the extension clamps -

Club Motorsports. New track that literally just opened. $100,000 a year memberships. Will eventually have condos with garages that go right out to the track. SCDA ran there last week.

Ben’s ball bearing short shift kit

Just ordered one up from Ben. Everyone has good things to say about it and the price is right. Might as well take the plunge while my center console is all apart.

Quick question, why do you store the car for the winter? It's perfectly capable in cold climates - I daily mine, and have just driven home through the snow (massively fun).

I did mine but I really can't tell or hear the slightest difference.

Tomikaze 03-19-2018 05:15 AM

Not a huge difference but I think you can hear a little more intake noise.

I'm sure the car is capable. Drove a Miata for several years year round so not afraid to but I like to take care of my car and I have a truck to drive. New England winters are especially harsh on cars. Lot's of sand salt and chemicals used to treat the roads. Why sandblast my car and have nasty looking corrosion on all the metal bits if I don't need to? My car was from the south so the undercarriage looks brand new. Want to keep in that way.

Agree. Seems to be just a slight bit "throatier" on my 03. No harm in doing it, and you can always reinstall it. Biggest risk is breaking those flimsy clips that hold the outside grill (ask me how I know).

PaulMc 03-19-2018 07:51 AM

Hi grc, do you have an Indy that you have used and recommend in the area? I am in Northern MA up near the NH border and would be interested in your experience.

I agree with Tomikaze on the New Eng winters 100%. I am itching to get my car out and the cover off, but these 15oF (-10oC) mornings we are still getting makes me less inclined to do so. The snowbanks, bits of tree lying around after the storms, massive potholes and road salt are currently winning the head vs heart battle!

Paul.

geraintthomas 03-19-2018 08:00 AM

Paul, I have used Autobahn Performance in Danvers, MA and am currently servicing with Automotive Engineering of Lexington, MA. If you are a PCA member (and I think its a good idea), you can ask some of your local fellow members. I suspect you would be in North Country Region.

Thanks for the tips.

Paul.

grc0456 03-20-2018 08:28 AM

Paul,

I misread. If you are in MA (east of Worcester or so), you would be in the Northeast Region (NER) of PCA. National PCA will assign you to the correct region. Check out our site here:

https://porschenet.com/

Spring is here (well, almost)!

Gary

Anker 03-20-2018 04:26 PM

Its easy to change regions. Just phone PCA National and they will take care of it on the spot. You will get a welcome email from me as soon as I get the notice!

Anker
